Which world cities are most integrated with nature/outdoors?

Which big cities in the world are closest to nature or contain most outdoor elements within the city itself - or where the two are mixed?

The first cities that come to my mind are cities in the middle of mountains (e.g. Innsbruck) or around mountains/desert (Santiago of Lima).

Do you know of others that fit this description?

Well, everyone mentions big cities mostly, but I'm going to recommend Valdivia, a samll city in the south of Chile. Huge navigable river in the middle of the city. Definatly a must´see.

An old thread abut an interesting topic of conversation. Unfortunately, while remote locations seem like good suggestions, the majority of people will likely not be able to visit them. Larger cities, which are inherently better connected and accessible are more viable options for the majority of us.

Some great suggestions above. Have to admit that Singapore is a surprisingly good suggestion, growth literally all over the city, like it is just about to be reclaimed by mother nature. One of the finest zoos and botanical gardens in the world are both found there and the recently added Gardens by the Bay attraction is really something else.
