"Im from Penang but work in Taiping. This is the place I will definitely bring my visitors and friends for fine dinning, good food and relaxed ambience.
They have 2 private rooms for special occasions get together with friends, party, birthday celebration etc.
Price is very reasonable, compera..."tive with other popular Sushi outlets in the city. Garlic rice and deep fried garlic salmon skin a must try. They serve big chunky salman sashimi enough for 2 persons to share. Occasionally have promotional item ie RM1 scallop sushi, RM1 snow crab sushi, RM1.5 salmon sushi etc, and up to 50% discount on selected menu.
You can even order a bottle of 1.8 litre sake and keep the balance at the restaurant, till your next visit.... next next visit.....
Last but not least, service is superb! Staff very attentive, and accommodative .

"Was in Taiping recently on a working trip, and as usual, stayed in a hotel nearby Kedai Makanan Tai Chen. We usually have our breakfast here.
Kedai Makanan Tai Chen is located at a corner unit of a row of shoplots. The food here is the hawker style food. There are stalls selling fried kuih tia..."u, wan tan mee, Hainamese chicken rice, Chinese-style nasi lemak, curry mee, popiah and a vegetarian stall.
The fried kuih tiau is very good and tasty. It is fried with some small prawns, and the usual bean sprout and eggs, and served in a plate with banana leaf. The popiah stall is very popular and well known among Taiping folks since those early days.
Kedai Makanan Tai Chen is only open for breakfast and lunch only, and closes by the late afternoon.

"This evergreen dessert known in Thailand as lod chong singapore (named after a cinema in Bangkok's Chinatown) always makes Thais wonder if it exists in the city-state. It does but nothing beats a spoonful of Bismillah's concoction, its palm sugar perfectly sweet and smokey. Its coconut milk is too..." watered down but we find it healthy and refreshing. With glutinous rice and red beans adding extra texture and flavour, this is simply perfection in a bowl. Who would mind rubbing elbows with other fans of this delightful treat? Although I have to take one point off for its questionable hygiene, a visit to Taiping is not complete without a taste of this famous cendol.
