"My wife and I were visting friends and family in Licata. During our stay we ate in many different restaurants in the area. The one that impressed us the most was Oasi Beach. It had a full menu that went from meat to fish to even pizza. First, the location; it is right on the beach with a great view ..."of the ocean. It's an open space and the help is polite, quick and efficient. I had fresh fish. You can either have it cooked traditionally (sicilian style) or in modern twists. I had a mix and I must say it was excellent. It went from great antipastos to perfectlly cooked pasta dishes to excellent main dishes. My wife, who DOES NOT eat fish, had a typcle sicilian antipasto, which she loved and then a pizza cooked to perfection with fresh and tasty ingredients. There was a large selection of wines but we choose the house wine, that was above average. We would definitly reccomend everyone to eat at this place.

I wrote before about Gambero Rosso and how to rate trattorie with 1, 2 or 3 prawns. Similarly, they rate restaurants with 1, 2 or 3 forks. There is only one restaurant with 3 forks (tre forchette) in Sicily, and this is it. The restaurant also has two Michelin stars. When it comes to the quality of the food I tend to agree more with Gambero Rosso’s judgements in Italy than I do with Michelin’s, and that holds up in this case as well. In my opinion the quality of the food in La Madia can compete with many three star restaurants, but the prices are more comparable to one star restaurants elsewhere. For the largest degustation menu and 2 bottles of good wine we on...
