"Massimo, the chef at Castell'in Villa, is a secret I shouldn't really share! I've been going to his restaurant for about 10 years and the cuisine is exceptional. If he was cooking at a less out-of-the-way restaurant he would certainly rate 3 Michelin stars. I've dined at quite a few 3 and 2 * restau..."rants and Massimo's cooking is right up there with the best. Our foodie friends from all over the world think so too. Everything Massimo prepares is exquisite. He makes pasta with eggs from his own ducks and chickens, picks herbs outside the restaurant, his bread is to die for - my problem is that I always eat far too much because his food is irresistible! The only downside is that everything is hand-prepared by him and he really needs more staff, so when there are a lot of people in the restaurant the service is very slow.

"While we were on our 25th wedding anniversary traveling around Tuscany, we once wanted to go to a special restaurant an choose this one-star restaurant in Villa a Sesta. First of all we were very kindly welcomed by the staff and the host, Helene. The bottega looks very nice inside but it must be gre..."at if you can eat outside. The dinner then was one highlight after another. It was a feast of flavors remaining always down-to-earth without loosing the roots of the tuscan cuisine.
Worth a journey!

Helene speaks not only fluent Italian and English but also French so when my..." sister in law realized this she could easily explain the foods she couldn't have. We opted for the tasting menu (varies from 5 - 6 courses). Not only did we savour every bite (after the complimentary welcome glass of Presceco) but the special menu she made for my sister in law was also the best food she had since arriving in Italy. Allow 2 hours for the tasting menu but it is well worth it.
My husbands parents returned on their own the following night to eat off the regular menu since we were lucky enough to be a 5 minute drive away in San Felice.
My husband and I also returned with his other sister and her husband when they joined us a week later. This time we enjoyed 6 courses and eve...
