"My partner. myself and our dog stayed at Jacqueline and Ronnies' cottage in Melkridge but went into Haltwhistle fairly often. Their coffee shop is delightful. Jacqueline and daughter Caroline run it, and Ronnie helps out on Thursdays! According to Ronnie they 'do posh tea' (Earl Grey!) Jacqueline c..."an cook for England, her scones are excellent and she also cooks pies and quiches to order, and they are huge. Her homemade jams, marmalades and chutneys are lovely, and the eggs come from her own chickens. The lady never stops. If other customers don't mind dogs are welcome, which is a bonus.Loved the place. Cant say the view is scenic as it is situated in the market place but it's a nice outlook.

"Nice friendly pub, filled with local people but no-one makes you feel unwelcome. Couldn't get a Sunday lunch as the chef was off which was a bit disappointing, but the landlord was happy for anyone to get a takeaway and eat it in the pub. Beer is very good. The pub is also very dog friendly which is..." nice. Very traditional pub with good atmosphere.
