"CASA VASCA is exceptional. Their long history in the neighborhood speaks for itself, and the food is so lovingly prepared. I return to the Ironbound (having done so for 30 years) as a destination for Latino excellence. It is a destination. My recommendation as an entree is the steak / shrimp comb..."ination with brandy sauce. The appetizers should not be missed. (A perk for those of you out of the region: the soup of the day is offered as free appetizer.) While the bread is delicious and locally baked, save yourself for real success!

"We have a business in Harrison and our most important client was coming for a plant tour and lunch. We chose Mompou and everything was fantastic. There were eight of us and I ordered everything in advance, so many things, it is almost impossible to write about them all! The salads were served fam..."ily style with the waiter describing each dish and serving them to everyone. We actually had all of the salads on the menu, Ensalada Mia, Tuna Sashimi, Garbanzo, Meiga, Cangrejo. Each one was amazing. The crabmeat was so sweet and fresh, the Tuna perfectly done, The vegetable ones had fresh cheese and perfect avocado. Then out came the Tapas, Pinchos de Pollo, Pequillo Rellenos, Pinchos De Camarones, Spicy Chorizo, Patatas Bravas, Albondigas De Pollo, and Falda a La Plancha, Tortilla Herminia,, How can I possibly describe them all? The steak was tender and absolutely delicious over spinach and potatoes, the grilled shrimp and chicken skewers, perfect with the tastiest sauces. Everyone lo...

"I ate here for lunch while I was on a recent business trip to Newark. I had been wandering around looking for a place to eat (there do not appear to be many restaurants in downtown Newark) and chanced upon this place by luck more than judgement, although it's actually situated nicely in the city cen..."ter. The place was packed when I went in, full of happy lunchers apparently. I was on my own, so I had a seat at the bar, and was immediately greeted with a warm and friendly smile. My food and drink was served up in no time. I had the chicken and sausage gumbo, and it was really delicious. I may never come back to Newark again, but if I do I will be sure to eat here again.
