"When ever we are in the Northern Berkshires we make it a point to dine at Mill on the Floss. First, the grounds are beautiful nestled high on a hill top with the running brook of the title nearby. The cozy entry makes you feel like you're being welcomed into some one's home, with cheese and cracker..."s always available on a rustic side board. The warm, wooded dining room just beyond has a real wood burning fireplace and an open kitchen. The food is wonderful; we've never had a bad meal here. The evening we were there we both had the Pris Fixe which consisted of petit fillet mignon with crisp onion topping and a lovely side of fresh vegetables. The meal came with corn chowder or tarrigon salad, both of which were delicious. It also included dessert and coffee. Our hazelnut tortes were out of this world. While the restaurant could be criticized for its unchanging menu, they do offer enough specials to minimize this issue.
The service is impeccable.

"The restaurant is in a restored mill. It is a refined rustic setting with a fireplace and open kitchen, resulting in a great ambiance.

The portions were generous.
The only negative is the prices are a bit pricey - the dinner entrees are in the high twenties and mid thirties range. A soda is $3.50 (with no refills).
However, Tues. to Fri., they have a 3 course prix fixe menu, including coffee for $25, which should be an exceptional value, but the choices are very limited.
All in all, it was a great dining experience, and defi...

"Coming from NYC area we have grown accustomed to eating good food when we eat out. This becomes a problem when we come to our home in the Berkshire where there are only a couple of very good restaurant. Mill on the Floss is one of them. It' provides great food in a beautiful New England setting. The..." mother daughter team in the kitchen are very nice and will accommodate any allergies. Check it out.
