"We don't travel as much these days, but we had an overwhelming craving for fried, whole-belly clams. Quite often on our travels north I would spot their store but never thought to stop by. They've been around for years, but I didn't realize they had a restaurant, so we decided to stop in and try the..."m.
Don't expect anything fancy--it's the kind of place where you can wear your old tee shirt and jeans, put your elbows on the table, gulp down a beer, and dig in.
I spotted the fried dill pickle chip appetizer with chipotle sauce and just had to try it. Delicious! However, my recommendation would be to share it with a group of four or more, as these things will fill you up before you even start.
Our fried whole bellies arrived on top of a mound of fries, along with coleslaw and tartar sauce. The clams were large and sweet, lightly coated and crisp and not the least bit greasy. The french fries were great. I had expected they would be soggy underneath the mound of clams. However, they rem...

"We went to the Yankee Pedlar for our Anniversary. It was our first trip back since the previous owners closed the restaurant a couple of years ago. Under its previous owners, the restaurant was a tradition for us to go to for Christmas Eve and other special occasions. Upon entering the restaurant..." we were greeted by the familiar surroundings. Although we arrived a bit early our table was ready and our drink order was promptly taken. And then our dinner order. Our dinners were cooked to order and right on the mark. The portions are not skimpy. Our waitress, Jordan, was attentive but not to the point where we felt like she was trying to turn the table. She even recommended a delicious Ghiradelli chocolate dessert that we shared -- and devoured. Jordan was an excellent server and I would request her table when we go back because she made our experience very enjoyable. The price of dinner was extremely reasonable. Highly recommend!

"For decades we have gone to the Delaney House for special occasions. Delaney Grille is a casual offshoot of it with less expensive choices. For patrons that enjoy draft beer, there were overt a half dozen selections which included local, regional, national and international choices. Some nights ha..."ve Prix Fixe Menu specials for added selections. Hookem' Fridays was the theme our night It include a choice of four appetizers, five entrees and two desserts. Although we both opted for the shrimp and scallop scampi, I choose the clam chowder and my wife choose the caesar salad. Both were very good as well as the scampi. Enough shrimp and scallops in the scampi to satisfy most diners. Only negative was that although we choose to have garlic bread with the meal, the waitress forgot about it and we had to bring it up just before the main course. Maybe we should have forgotten about it as it was so-so at best. Dessert was limited to parfait or mousse cake with the cake being a large sl...
