"Yep, that pretty much sums it up. My experience with college town eateries is that they can serve up whatever slop they want, the students (and their visiting parents) can take it or leave it. This is true for many places in College Park.
Not so for Hanami.
I’ve eaten there several times now..." and, while it may not rank at the absolute pinnacle of my sushi pyramid (see my review of Tachibana), it’s up there. Good, fresh fish, nicely seasoned sushi rice, and lovely, traditional presentation. I was very pleased to note that the green tea comes out with tea leaf residue in the bottom of the cup … no tea bags here.
I’ve only eaten the sushi, so can’t speak with authority on the cooked entrees. But I watch what comes out to the dining room, and they teriyaki, tempura and bento boxes look and smell pretty good. I may have to break down some day and try some.
They even have grilled yellowtail jaw on the menu, not typical of a place that only looks to serve an occidental client...

"This review is based on the fact that this food comes from within a furniture store. If we were talking about a free-standing restaurant I would likely not give it a 4. However, it's a great place to grab a bite to eat if you're going to be there for a while. My wife, who works in College Park, w..."ill actually go in to grab a salmon plate and study for a while. The kids always like the chicken. And if you get a member card, you get a free cup of coffee each visit. The soft serve ice cream, on the way out, is pretty tasty as well. I recommend giving them a try.
