"When we walked into Manta Ray Restaurant the elegance this San Simeon surprise delighted us. The owners handled the Thursday evening crowd with a welcoming style. The owner, Miguel seated us at a comfortable table by a window where we could catch a glimpse of the ocean.
Attached to a Quality I..."nn, our expectations were medium (not that we don't like a Quality Inn, but our travels have taught us that often a eatery attached to a roadside motel are usually forgettable). But were we ever surprised.
The menu--excellent with plenty of seafood choices, along with small dishes (crab cakes are yummy)--salads, soups, steaks and pasta.
The wine list features local wines and many by the glass. Woot! Woot! Do try the local wines. They rock.
Miguel brought out steaming hot sourdough bread and butter while we perused the menu.

"My friend and I stopped in Sebastains before our Hearst Castle tour. While it was busy our food came quickly and was more than worth the short wait. I got the Big Sur veggie sandwich which was huge and a bargain at $7.95 My friend got the smaller version which was also huge. We both got the Clam Ch..."owder which was the best I've ever had.
The cafe also serves as a wine tasting room and the San Simeon Post Office. Between the price, the quantity, and the quality offs he food, and the setting it was pure joy!

My plate was whisked away & a whole new meal cooked for me. Small delay, of course, but my friends were still eating when my new meal arrived.
Everything was very good, & the waiter was very attentive & chatty, asking us where we came from etc.
We asked what time they opened for breakfast, but unfortunately they weren't doing breakfast for the summer season yet.
I would definitely recommend t...
