"I've been to this place three times.
And I could tell you that I enjoyed all three visits even I'm not a coffee enthusiast.
The place is small comparing to the other cafe.
Maybe it could only host no more than 30 people.
But I've never been the only guest. There is always other guests, but the a..."tmosphere is nice.
The seating area is well designed to serve solo guest (there is a long bench with a bar seating in the side), couple ( there is two table for 3 seats) or even small group.
I'm not a coffee drinker, so I usually end up with a cup of tea, or lemon tea, or matcha latte accompanied with some small snack.
I would recommend you Roti Jepit or Pisang Bakar for small snack. It's not a big portion, just the correct portion for one or two person and it tasted delicious.

"The colonial architecture, from the outside and in, has made so much of an impression already to the restaurant's visitors. Some of the waiters have already been working here more more than 20-30 years, and they have great stories about their time in the restaurant.
In terms of food, Toko Oen is ..."nice but not too distinct. The steaks are recommendable, and the ice creams are tasty. But many other restaurants serve equally good (if not better) menus nowadays.
Toko Oen still holds a strong nostalgia nuance about it. That's what makes it special. Aside from that, though, there's not much to expect.
