"We arrived in Dahab to be informed by our tour guide of the three best places to eat, one of them being Al Capone. So we decided to have a look at the menu, right at the front entrance we were greeted by the most enthusiastic door man I've ever encountered! He was so friendly and went at a million m..."iles an hour informing us of how fantastic everything was, but that wasnt enough! He took us over to the kitchen to tell us (and show us) about the processes, and gave us free dips, freshly cooked bread, and chocolate cake to try! (All of which were sublime!) So he ushers us to a table, where we are offered a free drink of our choice, free starters, and the main meal's are so reasonable priced (everywhere in Egypt food is cheap, but for the 5 star quality of these meals, its amazing), then we got a free, freshly baked, still warm chocolate cake, layered with chocolate ice cream and chocolate sauce! Perhaps a little too decadent, but never the less, we polished it off! And its not over yet! W...

"I first tried Essence because I was staying at the neighboring hotel. I was expecting the "usual" fine-but-not-amazing fare typical of most restaurants in Dahab. But the food here was so delicious, healthy, and fresh that I kept coming back. The restaurant is run and owned by a really lovely team..." of Egyptians and Brits, and the chef has worked in many Michelin-starred kitchens in London. The menu has all the basics (so it's a great place to bring your family of picky eaters), but it also has options that are more in line with a top restaurant in a major city. Highly recommend the fish dishes and the mezzes. Another perk is the lovely candlelit pool or beach-side setting overlooking the gorgeous Red Sea. Order a sheesha from the Bedouin tent nearby and enjoy!
(As a solo female traveler, I felt very welcome and comfortable here dining here alone, and it was easy to meet and chat with other travelers here.)

"We absolutely love everything about this place. Great and safe (!, we ate there twice) food. Really fantastic and romantic atmosphere, because of the Bedouin seats, palm trees and dimmed lights. Friendly and polite staff (and yes, they try to reel you in, but in a more friendly way than most of the ..."places). Cheapest sheesha in town. Kitchen looks very clean in comparison to other restaurants. Toilets are awful though (if you're a girl, don't use them if you don't really have to go). Cats are everywhere indeed, like every other restaurant in Dahab. Therefor they provide you with a water spray. Prices are really reasonable and they stick to them, unlike other restaurants. We had dinner here twice for 200LE including four drinks and a sheesha without picking the cheapest dishes.
For us this is the place with best value for money in Dahab.
