"The adverb in my title subtly describes Mirko in Athens, Georgia. We enjoyed a dinner at this restaurant ahead of our daughter's graduation from UGA. Nestled in a small strip mall, adjacent to an apartment group, one would not notice this pasta place unless specifically directed. Upon entering, i..."t is important to note that the customer must place his or her order at the front bar/register, take a number placard, and find a seat (either inside, or preferably outside).
The food delivery was timely and certainly worth the modest price. Our group enjoyed various pastas, made on location; along with homemade sauces that featured fresh vegetables, salmon, and what can only be described as "perfect" sausage.
A personal recommendation for this establishment for those of us that visit from out of town: Please place a sign at the entrance explaining that customers should pick up a menu, make selections, and then approach the cashier/attendant with a complete order. I apologize for the...

"We were riding around downtown Athens looking for a place to eat lunch. We couldn't believe how hard it was to find something that looked good. We pulled over to look at another restaurant and that's when we saw Ted's. Such a large, inviting patio and it was such a nice day, we had to try it out...." They have a nice menu featuring pizzas, sandwiches and salads, lots to choose from. I ordered the chicken panini and my husband got the muffuletta. While we were waiting for our food, somebody actually came out and wiped our table because it was a windy Spring day and the pollen was as thick as fog. Very nice touch. When the food arrived, it looked so pretty that I just had to take a picture. Not surprisingly, the food did not disappoint. We loved our sandwiches! If we lived in this area, this would be a regular spot for us. Also, another note - there was a lady eating at another table on the patio that had her dog with her. The server even brought out a little bowl of water for h...

"So normally, one only gets to pick two of those descriptions in any equation. Taqueria del Sol in Athens legitimately claims the rare quality of breaking that rule as they own all three.
The place is my Friday lunch staple. Unlike most Mexican restaurants, the chips and salsa aren't a given..." -- you do have to order those as a side, but there is enough to share. And the wait staff will keep the chips coming if you run out. The salsa trio is house-made as is evidenced by the slight variations with the seasons depending on which fresh ingredients are available. (when new peppers are available...you'll know it!) The menu varies weekly with a blue plate special and a special taco. But the standards are always good stand-bys. I'm partial to the fish taco, the Memphis taco (a pork mustard BBQ variation), and the brisket taco. The shrimp corn chowder is a favorite (guaranteed to open one's breathing passages), and the collards (believe it or not...a standard side dish here) ar...
