  "Szentendre is a lovely little city some 45 minutes from downtown Budapest, easy to reach by car or the H5 suburban train (HÉV). Its picturesque streets are full of museums, galleries, shops and restaurants, and one of the bests of the latter is said to be Aranysárkány. The decor is relatively simple..." but not without charm, the seats are somewhat uncomfortable. On the menu a good selection of typical and not so typical Hungarian dishes. We had the Dragon’s Bouillon which was excellent, and then I had Honeyed Goose Steak which was nice but just a tiny bit chewy, my wife had the Vegetable Risotto with Porcini, which was quite good. Service was very polite, the bill (with mineral water and coffee) a reasonable HUF 8.400 (US$ 37). If you have the time interrupt your HÉV journey at the Szentlélek tér stop and visit two lovely museums: the Vasarely and the Varga Imre, you’ll enjoy. " More >

  "This little town is littered with cafes and restaurants, a number of which line the river. We both opted for the Gyros (don't think when in one applies??) and came out happy with our choices. If anything the amount if chicken was a bit disappointing and that we only got 2 small pitas each to fill."

  "We just had a simple tapas at lunch time. The food was tasty & good quality & the service quick & friendly. They even asked if we wanted to bring our bikes inside for more security. It's just off the main tourist area and not that visible but it's worth the effort to look for it."
