We left a voicemail on the restaurant's answering machine and when we arrived one of the waitresses (the one who commented on the size of the sugar waffle dessert - more on that later) explained that they had managed to accommodate this in a friendly but slightly clumsy way (she said they were fully booked but because it was fairly early they could manage it).
My B-I-L commented on the nice atmosphere, with a couple of nearby tables having a good time. Starters were the sharing nachos and combo platter. A request for the guacamole, sour cream and salsa to be served on the side was dealt with, and nothing was left of these.

"The first impression I got was of a labyrinth of corridors that were very cold. It was May 2013 and we were still in the grip of a very cold spell of weather. We moved through the the corridors past the separate bar and entered a large dining room set out in small intimate areas, there were two ope..."n fires but neither was lit and it remained chilly. The interior walls were brick and slate. The small windows were set into thick cob walls and the restaurant was decorated with brass and antique looking items and tables were set in alcoves. Waitress service was a bonus and all staff seemed to be enjoying their work and were friendly and helpful.
