Mitchell Ray, an "unofficial" host of the Gecko Bungalow in Ladyville, took us out there - as well, he spent the entire evening with us! We trekked through the "jungle" (I think that's what it was) and saw different things; as well, we saw several crocodiles and even got to hold and have our pictures taken with a baby croc. It was a very interesting tour and certainly learned things that we didn't know before! The tour ended with an opportunity to catch some shrimp and then eat them at Captain Hook's Shrimp Restaurant & Bar - what a way to end our first day in Belize - quite a welcome! We read the reviews on TripAdvisor and knew an afternoon/evening spent at such a fascinating place would send us home with great memories. We arrived in the late afternoon, driving about a mile off the Northern Highway, then between football-field-sized ponds surrounded by mangrove forests.
