"Staying at Hotel Altair on Rua Loureiros in Santiago de Compostela - cold night, looking for the closest restaurant open a little bit earlier we found Bierzo Enxebre. What a great find. We were first but it soon filled with ex pats to eat and locals for drinks and tapas. Cozy atmosphere and very obl..."iging staff. Menu in several languages. Good selection of Spanish cuisine with local influence. We started with the very generous salads mista and followed with the lamb chops (husband) and fried pork ribs for self. Both very tasty and succulent. With coffee came a little bowl of cherries marinated in liqueur. A nice touch - and nice way to finish our evening. The restaurant is not quite in the very busy eating streets but is well worth the effort to find it. Would return to eat there with- out hesitation.

"Day two and after finding another gem we were promise a seven course four hour meal. Impossible to imagine both but again being led to a location, as a passer by you would not give a second glance, to be pleasantly surprised by the lovely courtyard with tables and sun umbrellas.
The champagne to st..."art was a lovely touch and then offered a table inside our outside, we chose insid as prior to this day it was freezing and we did not want to push our luck. Probably the wrong decision as the charm of the courtyard we experienced for coffee and liquors after lunch.

A sorbet to freshen our taste buds for the meat and a further three sweet courses all apple taste themed. Seven sounds a large number but perfect quantities sated our appetite without overindulgence. Again the wine flowed various Alberinos and a mixture of Spanish reds were all enjoyed. Food, ...

"Arriving in Santiago after a gruelling 5 days on the English Route when we were battered by rain and endured freezing cold weather we met a friend, who having advised the route, obviously felt bad and said he would take us to two restaurants over the next few days which would revitalise us. Well thi..."s certainly did the trick. Walking into the new town we arrived at Gondola, the narrow front entrance gave no hint of what lay behind. We were ushered into the rear which became a beautiful dining room as fine any I have ever been in. The menu offered with a special choice of 22, 15 or 9 euros fixed prices. Having opted for the 22 we immediately started mixing and matching and asked about other dishes. I opted for the fish soup as a starter magnificent ! undecided about my main I asked about Veal Milanese, not on the menu, but immediately offered again delicious. Wine and water flowed freely during the meal which was followed by coffees. Then the surprise the bill apparently all drink was in...
