"This restaurant was recommended to us by our timeshare tour guide Becky (thanks Becky - even though the timeshare presentation was, overall, harrowing!), and we'd worked up quite an appetite after being offered so many price-slashing bargains by the 14 salespeople at Mayan Palace who really, really ..."wanted out business . . .but anyway, we drove all the way past Sandy Beach (north, that is) to find this place right next to the "wrecked on the reef" bar. As usual in Rocky Point, the service at Mare Blu was wonderful (Mexican waiters are generally grown ups, not teenagers). There was a delightful view during our meal, just a few hundred yards through floor to ceiling windows, to the gulf. I had ravioli with an exquisite cream sauce; my husband had lasagne, also excellent. We ate early (around 5), so were the only ones in the place but were made to feel welcome anyway. Somewhat pricey but a great value. I was not expecting to find this caliber of Italian food in Rocky Point.

"One can get carne asada tacos at just about any corner of every town in Mexico so sometimes it is difficult to distinguish one from another. In Puerto Penasco we had tacos at two places. One was "EL Jaripeo" (reviewed elsewhere) which had decent tacos but nothing to distinguish itself from all the..." others in town. In contrast, Tacos Brissa serves a similar variety but what they do to the tacos is excellent. They also serve a filled baked potato which we did not have but we heard is very tasty and very filling.
We had the standard carne asada and the "Chile relleno taco." The carne asada taco comes in your choice of corn or flour tortilla both made locally and fresh. The meat filling is juicy, hot, and tasty. Sides are the standard guacamole (blender style- no chunky), salsa, lettuce, etc. The nice thing about the sides at this place is that they are presented in its own individual covered tray. This results in very clean product and keeps you from fighting the flies like you ...

"This is a top quality restaurant with a very reasonable priced menu, especially when you consider the excellent food they serve. We were there a bit before noon when they start serving the lunch menu but in spite of this the waitress agreed to get our lunch order in ahead of the designated hour. Fo..."r those not familiar with "back of the house" operations at a restaurant it may seem like no big deal but the changes between breakfast, lunch, and dinner fare often require many changes in the equipment being used, fryers, hot plates, etc. Granted, at fifteen minutes the cook staff would already be going through the change over but orders place ahead of that time may interrupt or actually delay the changeover.
And now on to the food. We had the "Tomate Athena" which consists of sliced tomatoes, topped with a balsamic and oil dressing and feta. This is served with bread baked on the premises which is of excellent flavor and crust. More rustic (and more flavorful) than the typical breads ser...
