The establishment is half traditional country pub with the other half a nice cafe. Top restaurant quality at reasonable prices. Saffron features in a number of dishes. There..." is also a cabinet with lighter options available. Meals have always arrived quickly so far, something appreciated when you want a meal while traveling. My favourite is the seafood chowder. It is very creamy and one of the nicest that I have had. It can be 'entertaining' when there is rugby on the TV in the bar. The owners are continually up grading the premises and last year installed a huge log fire for the winter and there is a nice outdoor area. This cafe is a very pleasant surprise.   "While we are staying three nights as a base for Nelson-Havelock surrounds, this little place is well located on the road 20mins from Havelock and 40mins from Nelson, but once you turn in you are no where near the road. Started with drinks on the deck overlooking the lovely surrounds with the forest ..."and hills backdrop-perfect setting, followed by a perfect steak, then a brownie dessert to die for.
