"Me and the missus stayed three nights here in our camper van and had an excellent weekend. Considering the weather was foul with snow and sleet and sub zero conditions. As soon as you walk in the room you are greeted with a massive open log fire which makes the place feel warm and friendly. I ordere..."d a Guinness which was excellent and that lead to many more over the next 3 nights. The wife does not drink alcohol but that was no problem as tea and coffee was always on the go and piping hot so she was happy. Now the food is something else, we both ordered the home made lamb and mint pies and was overwhelmed by the size of it. It came in steaming hot with lovely tasting gravy, cabbage, carrots, and swede and turnips plus roast potatoes. You could have a choice of mash or chips which we had the latter and they was all done perfectly. Jose could not eat all hers as it was far to much but I got through it all nicely but did not bother with the sweet menu as I needed the room for a few more p...

"I eat here every week due to working near by and since the new owners took over in the New Year I think they're doing a great job. I am always welcomed with warm smiles and plenty of chat and banter. The food is always homemade, with great flavours, big portions and nicely presented. The selection o..."n the menu is fantastic and regularly new things being added. The guy slagging them off for handwritten menus - seriously does that matter they'd only been in a week or two. Yes the pub needs a damn good refurbishment but money doesn't grow on trees, give them chance! As far as I'm concerned the warm welcome and good food (at very reasonable prices for the portion size and quality) certainly makes up for the need of a lick of paint!

But then we came across the fact that the Sun Inn has got new owners and is on the up again after some years of being allowed to go downhill. The latest reports from customers are all without exception very favourable indeed, we made initial contact via Jenny from Lincoln, thankyou Jenny, we were not able to see an e-mail address direct.
The management of the Sun contaxcted and asked how they couild help us, we explained what we wanted and said we would be in touch. We eventually arrived in the area and unannounced went for a meal, it was excellent food and a good price. We introduced ourselves, were remem...
