Charming setting and interesting, traditional food, including Sauerbraten

This is a 3.5 rating rounded up as I was quite charmed by this place. I ate here with a German friend in February, and on a cold day, the open fire was lovely. The waitresses were in traditional 'serving wench'-style costume and the dining area was nicely spaced out and the ceilings were... read more

Lovely dinner on the terrace restaurant just before sunset. The atmosphere around this former abbey is breathtaking in its serene beauty. Had veal medallions with asparagus (they were in season). Others in our party had similar hearty food. Food, while not bad, wasn't great but still delicious. Perhaps we were so taken in by our surroundings and the wine that... More

We really enjoyed our dinner here. The setting is atmospheric and romantic in a softly lit vaulted room with a roaring fire going. The service was friendly and attentive and the food was quite delicious - actually the best we had over our entire trip. Local cuisine was cooked with skill and delicacy, accompanied by wine from the vineyard. I... More

We made a day trip to the Kloster Eberbach to see where the movie 'Name of the Rose' had been filmed. There is this Restaurant on the premises. It Looks so nice and cozy. And the Food was outstanding. This is a place I want to come back to hopefully soon.

Great location, great atmosphere, great food and delightfully attentive staff. This has to be one of the most memorable restaurants that I have visited in a long time.

I liked the atmosphere, the vaulted ceilings and the columns all in excellent condition. The nice walk through gardens and roses here and there climbing up the walls.

The location of the terrace restaurant is magnificent - under trees with a beautiful view on the monastery. The service - dressed in traditional attire - was also attentive and friendly. The good experience ended alas there. Though the menu looked quite appealing with an emphasis on regional product the food that was served was disappointing. The first course -... More

We felt like spending some time outside the city of Frankfurt to see the beautiful surroundings of the city. 30 minutes drive direction Wiesbaden we got into a hilly and lush area. The monastery is super well maintained and the dining room very nice with alcoves. Staff were friendly, the menu was seasonal and the dishes delicious.

It doesn't get much better than lunch on the terrace with wine/beer and good, honest food. Lots of choice on a mouth-watering menu and the dishes didn't disappoint.

I visited this place several times since my first time in January 2007, and I love German food they cook here and always eat here with great pleasure. My most favorites are "Steinberger Rieslingcremesuppe" (EUR 5,20), "Graved salmon on sauerkraut potato patties with horseradish and salad" (12.80) and "oven fresh Farm duck on sauce pinot noir with glaced apple-cabbage and...
