This is a great traditional pub with good pub grub and good ales. We walk here along the old railway line and its always a welcoming sight at the end and the food and beer sets us up for the walk home. We have been as children, as a couple and now with kids at varying ages and it's suited... More

Having made a booking on Sunday 5th May for Saturday 25th May at 6.00pm. I telephoned the s Horse and Farrier within half an hour and asked to change the booking to 8.00pm. I was told no problem and that they looked forward to seeing us on the 25th. I had also asked if we could take a small cake... More

We visited in January for my Birthday treat and previously to that in October for Hubby's. On both occasions we had great service, great food and a relaxing stay. So I arranged to meet for a friends catch up, and was not disappointed. We eat out a lot, in fact its a serious hobby and this is THEE PLACE IN... More

Very pleasant environment, catering well for the range of people who visit the area, with provision made for dogs, cyclists, hiers and the general public. Excellent service and a very comprehensive menu. Food quality was very good and this pub gives good value for money. Would have no hesitation in returning.

Excellent meal and staff very pleasant and efficient despite being very busy on a Saturday night with tables being reset and filled up again. Never felt rushed with our friends.

Having been introduced to the delights of the Horse and Farrier by a friend, a return trip was arranged for a family birthday a few weeks later. On both occasions the food and service did not disappoint. Would recommend.

A lovely pub in the little village of Threlkeld. We were staying at the Keswick Country House Hotel and walked down the railway line after being informed what a lovely walk it was. The pub is beautifully decorated but oh dear way too pricey. Not only was the food very overpriced (we did not eat here because of this) but... More

Bustling atmosphere on a Friday night - we were very glad we had booked! - but service was impeccable. Friendly without being overbearing, and prompt (impressive given that they were completely full). The food was tasty and the portions enormous - make sure you're hungry when you arrive!
