After walking in the fells there's no better place to visit. There are plenty of choice on the menu and a good selection of real ales. Very friendly and helpful staff. When ever we are in the lakes we visit this pub.
We were recommended to com to the Horse and Farrier for food and we went twice and were not disappointed. The food is all home made and great portion sizes. The ale pie was great and the marmalade and whisky bread and butter pudding with creamy custard was just amazing. Perfect for a winter's night - great atmosphere with real... More
On a thoroughly wet night betwixt Christmas and New Year, we (2) arrived without a booking but they managed to fit us in. The place was heaving, really busy pub/restaurant; so consider booking ahead if there are 4 or more of you. Delightful staff (gentleman particularly) excellent service and very accommodating. Happy to upgrade a prawn cocktail starter to a... More
We were stopping in a cottage nearby and called in for a drink after a walk and was welcome with friendly staff and a great owner . Unfortunately we didn't have any food as it was Christmas and busy but looked very nice. (Will be back to try) beer was nice and we'll kept.
Ate breakfast here, after we stayed in the Sally Inn in the same village. Both pubs are owned by the same man. & 1 allows dogs & the other doesn't. So if you have pets you stay in one & walk to the other for breakfast, which is a small price to pay for some great service.
Delightful pub with the most wonderfully welcoming bar staff, we felt like we were being wrapped in a warm cosy blanket every time we walked in! Lovely open fire, good English grub (pies, curry, nachos) and great wi-fi, we could not recommend this pub more.
While on the way back to west cumbria, the significant other and I got hungry so i looked on here and saw The Horse & Farrier, met warmly by the staff, found us a lovely table seemed genuinely to love being nice to people. A trait often lacking in places but not this lovely inn, the food was good &... More
Nice, quiet place with lovely decor you'd expect from an old, traditional pub. Good food - I tried their chicken burger, which comes with a very generous portion of chips. They had mulled wine which won me over.
