We (me and my dad) visited the Horse and Farrier for dinner on Friday 9th September 2014. The atmosphere in the pub was nice, with pleasant, smart decor. Tables are somewhat squashed in, and having only booked about an hour before eating, we had apparently been given the last available table, which was somewhat crammed in. But the fact that... More

We holiday in the make district a lot, 3 times this year, and where ever we stay and which ever other pubs we try we always end up visiting the Horse and Farrier. We've stayed in Keswick this week and visited 3 times, having lamb, fish and chips, chicken. Cumberland sauage, all excellent. The sticky toffee pudding and Apple crumble... More

I was here on the August bank holiday. We paid £7 for a large G&T which came with a slice of lime about a millimetre thick, and poor quality tonic spray rather than bottled. For my main meal I had salmon & pasta (£16, expensive for salmon). The tomatoes were straight out the fridge and cold, the pasta was cold... More

We had dinner here in August 2014; we were hungry after climbing and walking and we weren't disappointed (a group of seven of us). Mains around £10 are typical pub grub - the fish and chips was a huge portion, but perfectly cooked. If you spend a little more (£15 - £18) the dishes are top quality but still generous... More

Walked from Keswick to Threlkeld along the disused railway hoping to find somewhere to eat for Sunday lunch. The first pub we came across was the Horse and Farrier Inn. Most of the tables were either occupied or reserved. Luckily for us they had a table free. We ordered the Roast Pork & Roast Lamb. The roast meal was excellent... More

We stayed in Threlkeld and the house’s visitors book was full of compliments about the Horse and Farrier. We had relations visiting us for 1 day so we booked a table for 7 at the Horse and Farrier. The place was very busy but we were shown straight to our table and enjoyed prompt, attentive, helpful and very courteous service... More

Just popped in for a beer after a long walk , they let me in with my very dirty springer spaniel and put me in quiet spot in corner. Must admit if I'd have known how nice inside I would not have gone in but they couldn't have made me more welcome. Just had a pint or Peroni and bag... More

Very attractive and clean Pub. Friendly and courteous service. Above average pub food. Nice starters of seared scallops followed by sea bass fillets. Good range of dishes on menu and also some specials available. Would recommend booking as with most of the best lake district establishments.

Called in here for lunch before going for a walk. This is a beautiful old pub in a charming village and I have to say the the fish and chips I had were the nicest I have ever eaten. The pub has an excellent of beers and the Jennings Sneck-lifter was just perfect.

During a camping trip to Keswick (well, Burns Farm just up the road really) we decided to have a little wander on our first evening after pitching up and feeling like we deserved a beer, and the Horse and Farrier was what we found! What a little hidden Gem!! As soon as we walked into this country pub we knew... More
