Came as part of the tour to the Tololo Observatory and after that long dusty ride in the bus, this restaurant was a slice of heaven. It was crowded with several tour groups and locals so it added to to the atmosphere. The layout and seating was divided into salons with a cute rustic decore that typified the local area.... More

We had a nice lunch here on a ship's tour following a visit to the spectacular observatory atop a nearby mountain. The food was fairly good, but not exceptional. Service was prompt and the place appeared clean, with better than average rest rooms. The Pisco sour was better than the one we received in Peru. The city seemed safe. People... More

We were in search of goat, a specialty of the region, and were initially put off by this location because of it's proximity to the town square and the fact that it was huge, yet quiet. We were pleasantly surprise. Yes, the serves are huge but, as with most meat restaurants in South America, it's always good to share. We... More

My friend and I went out in search of cabrito (goat) as we had heard Vicuña was famous for it. We went to Halley because there wasn't much open when we were there. The goat was a standout - crispy, juicy, melt in your mouth scrumptious. We shared cabrito with papas salteadas and ensalada. I wish I had had one... More

Being English we wanted an early meal so popped in here long before Chileans would be likely to be looking for dinner. The restaurant was quiet but they were happy to serve us. The waitress knew enough Englis to help us out when we were not sure of the Spanish!. The food was excellent, but the portions enormous. I had... More

My girlfriend and I had lunch twice at Halley. We really enjoyed it. It's not haute-cuisine but they do a good job at serving Chilean treats. We enjoyed the "pastel de choclo" and also the "cordero asado". The restaurant is right next to the main square (Plaza de Armas) and it is easy to park around there. Best of all... More
