Very French

We've been to Restaurant Du Cap at least 8 times in the last five years. What we like about it? At first it's the atmosphere. It is as French as you can get. You almost think you're in the movië: "Les Vacance de Monsieur Hulot" However the staff is very friendly, they keep a professional distance... read more

Been several times always excellent. This time was different. First course - OK nothing special, main meal cold and really bland - told waitress - she just shrugged her shoulders - was not interested, cheese OK - no biscuits just salad - long wait for no dessert. 28 euros per head - not worth it. Toilets were dirty - 2... More

My family have been eating at this restaurant for over 10 years, finding it by accident after deciding to eat at a local restaurant rather than one in a shopping centre. The menu is predominately seafood and shellfish of all kinds. There are many set menus ( a lot less than 10 years ago) but the portions are very generous... More

Very French, obviously a favourite with locals, although we were warmly welcomed, few concessions to the English. The food was good without being special, seafood figured prominently on the menu and it was as fresh as can be. Set menus between 20 and 36 euros, good choice of dishes. Excellent house wine. Plenty of parking and easy to find. Recommended.

This restaurant is more expensive than the restaurant L'Escale at the other side of the road. The qualiy of the food however is better and finer. There were very few people in the restauarant so the plates appeared one after another very fast. I should recommend this restaurant.

I had happy memories of this restaurant years ago. On my recent visit it was very cold despite the heating allegedly being on. No one seemed to have communicated this to the stone cold radiator next to the table. The fruits de mer were not pleasant and the crab looked grey. The beef fillet was OK. There was no hot... More

Popped in for a lunchtime 28 Euro prix fixe menu on the first week of December and should have read the signs. Three other tables looking apprehensive and a waitress wearing a pullover was a warning that this might not be a cosy or attentive experience. The food was ok but no chef can compete with a cold restaurant where... More

We arrived to an unenthusiastic welcome and it took a long time to get served. We ordered two menus at 24 Euros. My daughter in law had a very fatty, dry pate and I had a seafood platter where there was still ice in some of the shells. Then followed alleged moules marinieres, where at least a third of the... We turned up on a bitterly cold Thursday lunchtime on spec and had a super lunch. We were the only customers but with the roaring log fire and some excellent rose wine, we felt warm, welcome and, by the end of the meal, full up and very content! E and I plumped (no pun intended) for the 36 Euro menu... More

We stayed over the road at the Escalles Hotel which is one of the best two star hotels we have stayed in recently but had been recommended to give Le Cap a try for a meal as we had previously found the Escalles restaurant OK but perhaps could be better. Big mistake Greeted pleasantly and the large room is welcoming... More
