As mentioned in the title came here after reading other TripAdvisor reviews and will be coming back. Don't let first impressions put you off. We sat in the car park for a minute thinking yes/no as from the outside it's a bit uninspiring, but don't let this stop you. Inside is a lovely small traditional pub, full of locals and... More

I read all reviews on this Inn and felt quite excited to be going. When we arrived we was greated with a very pleasent young staff memeber who was very friendly and although a saturday evening it was very quiet with only 2 other people in the permisses. This was about 7 on a saturday evening. We places order for... More

Oh Wow! What a find! I can't believe we have lived just 11 miles from this delightful gastro pub for 20 years and not realised it, we popped in for a recky today and had lunch. I had the lasagne which was amazing. Very homemade down to the home made pasta. Hubby didn't fancy anything from the menu so asked... More

I was staying with the ball and chain at horwood house and we came here on Monday night. We were the only ones eating dinner but had a great meal. My better half had a great steak and I went for one of the burgers. Both great, friendly service and good ales. If you want more of an atmosphere Sunday... More

The menu at this charming fifteenth century thatched pub is extensive. All the food is prepared to order (you can even elect to cook your own steak on the hot rock should the impulse grab you. Try phoning ahead and dropping in for a quick pint while 'Chef' prepares you a take away, wood-fired pizza or dropping by for a... More

Went to this place to sample the rock and the cooking of your own steak.... We was told that the stone was not available during the winter months... When I asked why I was told that it was because the ventilation is not sufficient and it would cost too much money to ventilate it properly ....what!!!! I was starving so... More

This was our very first burns night dinner at the Shoulder of Mutton and I have been to many such events elsewhere. Impressed or what. Piper to greet us along with the Landladys rep (Ron) who looked dapper. I was in my Kilt and looked better mind you. Hosts were 100% attentive Ron and Sue looked after everyone whilst the... More

Ironically we were down Milton Keynes way visiting my nan and she didn't feel up to cooking. we stumbled across this wonderful haven of eclecticism on route and decided to return for lunch. The landlady was so welcoming even though we had not booked and found a table for the 6 of us after only a short wait. The pub... More

Today we were just walking the cycle route. We stopped here for sunday roast. I have to say it was not the best I have ever had. The big Yorkshire was a great idea but the veg was over cooked. Really friendly reception and a very nice desert so the main course may have been a blip. The décor was... More
