Top spot next to river with great food and service. Our group enjoyed a tasty lunch after MTB riding in the Knobbly Range with Altitude Bikes.

We attended a private family dinner held at the Shaky Bridge Vineyard Cafe for my in-laws 50th wedding anniversary. Intimate, country ambiance, coupled with the fabulous buffet dinner with a great selection of wines, made the occasion even more special. Service was outstanding and non-intrusive. Would definitely recommend for private functions.

Our 50th Wedding anniversary celebrations was highlighted by the wonderful meal prepared by the staff at Shaky Bridge Cafe. The surroundings were pleasant; the restaurant part was very comfortable; and the meal was fantastic. Nothing was too much trouble for the wonderful staff who made sure we would have a wonderful evening. Their pleasant manner could only be described as... More

Grounds and seating can be a bit tatty looking but on a nice day you can enjoy some peaceful fresh air and country outlook.

Shaky Bridge Cafe is located across the Manuherikia River from the town and it's fun to approach it on foot using the historic Shaky Bridge after which it is named. It is in an old house. The lunch menu is varied, includes, meat. vegetarian , and gluten free dishes. Imaginative presentation - the chicken salad, which had plenty of chicken... More

This place has a nostalgic effect on me, always enjoyed every stay especially the past years. It's not the same service as it is used to with the change of owners. But the views and the scenery still the same... Have it outside ;)

We decided to visit Shaky Bridge Vineyard Cafe yesterday for lunch - great food and coffee but the staff appeared not to know what they were doing and were very disorganised. We had a very long wait for our food over 40 minutes - our coffee and dessert (cake / muffin) were presented before our main meal which was chosen... More

A friend and I went after a long hike over butchers flat, The food was of a high standard and creatively presented. A great range of dishes to choose from. We ended up staying for evening sunset and a couple of connoisseur lagers too! Would recommend to all!

My wife and I popped in for breakfast and appreciated the presentation on warm plates in front of a cosy open fire. The rural setting was very relaxing with a view out over the river. Service was friendly and prompt which is a big plus. Next time we are in Alex we will sample the other side of the menue.
