This restaurant is one of those restaurants that can make a trip for you. It is basically an old lady's home with an outdoors sitting area. The chairs are plastic, the ambiance leaves a little to the imagination and the dishes are hearty but not well crafted - and somehow it works perfectly. Yes, the charm of it all overcomes... More

Mamie Lily welcomed us warmly, as did Lola her dog. The atmosphere is beautifully informal and relaxing; we ate outside on the terrace, unhurried and relaxed. The menu is so good that we couldn't decide what to have so we asked the waitress to make her recommendation. This is the best solution if you are visiting for the first time.... More

The restaurant is truly chez Mama, with Mama sitting in the vestibule offering a not entirely warm welcome (and her dog tried to bite my companion on the way out!). The restaurant is charmingly decorated with a mix of contemporary engravings, crafts, with a few family papers stashed around. The menu is fairly short but with Jewish takes on a... More

We hired a car and driver to go to the only jewish restaurant in Tunisia which was 200Km away from where our hotel was. We were greeted my Mamie Lilly her self as well as her son. The welcome was as good as the food, we wished we could have sampled more of the menu. The home made almond ice... More

Very nice owners, will welcome you with open arms. I had a great meal (mishmishiya - beef, couscous and dried fruits). There is also a modest Jewish Tunisian museum there.

Beautiful place, wondefully served. Different cuisine, a mix between jewish and arab food, it is a delicious place hidden in the middle of "La Goulette". Around 25 DT each. I'll definitely come back.

In a city where far too many restaurants seem to serve the same menu with little differentiation, Mamie Lily offers an opportunity to have a novel experience, both in the cuisine and the atmosphere. Mamie Lily is Tunisia's only kosher restaurant, but most of the people come to Mamie Lily, not because they keep kosher, nor are most of the... More

This is by far the most charming restaurant in the Greater Tunis area. Irrespective of whether you are in dire need of 100% kosher food or not, this place offers nice Jewish-Tunisian food in a homely setting. A must-visit place particularly for those who live in the area and are looking for something a bit different.

The BBC reports the restaurant is kosher/kashrut but the chef's son, who works there, is a chain-smoker. If he's smoking anywhere on the grounds of the restaurant -inside or outside - the restaurant is not kosher. Smoking is completely trayf or worse: The same as eating pork cutlets with cheese and mlkshakes. / La BBC rapporte que le restaurant est... More
