Hi and welcome to the Blue Bridge Restaurant. Lying 2 miles from Chelmsford in the quaint Norman village of Writtle, we aim to bring you the finest dining. Totally renovated and tastefully restructured with no expense spared, we have transformed the once aging Cock and Bell public house into a high class restaurant. Choose from a selection of our top quality chef's starters to whet your appetite, then try one of our speciality main courses, or simply sample the delights of our seafood bar. Wash the meal down with a beautiful glass of Champagne, hand picked by our expert from the Champagne region itself. If you have room, why not try some of our wonderful range of desserts? Come dine with us!

This was our second visit to the Blue Bridge and we had a lovely time. The venue is very nice and with three separate dining areas, you never feel like you are in a busy restaurant. Food and service was good. Its not cheap but it is fairly priced for the food you get. We will certainly be back again.

I went here for dinner last night and felt while charging high end prices, the service and finish just wasn't up scratch. What champagne cocktails do you do? Errrrrrr ... ummmm ... I'll find out. Chipped crockery, burned creme brulee, gristley steak, thin peppercorn sauce, slightly undercooked chips, staff who insisted on topping up our champagne every 30 seconds overfilling... More

This restaurant has a bistro feel about it which is quite appealing and even had a singer on the Saturday we were there but it is not somewhere for an intimate dinner. The menu is pretentiously descriptive, e.g. Hen's Egg and is mirrored by the food in both quality and size of portions. My egg was from a tiny Hen.... More

New Years Eve - A set menu with choices for two of the five courses was appropriate for this extremely busy night. The atmosphere was lively and buzzing but never loud making it possible to enjoy conversation and the singer. Food was innovative, beautifully presented and delicious, it’s difficult to say more without waffling! The staff, attentive and always available... More

I have visited here before last Xmas and was pleasantly surprised by how lovely the surroundings were and the food. Yes, it is a bit pricey but then i feel its worth it. The food is always lovely and the service is spot on, the waitresses are lovely and friendly. On our last visit which was a week ago we... More

I went to the bluebridge New Years eve and paid £85 for a 5 course meal which I don't think was worth the money two of the courses were in shot glasses they counted a lemon sorbet to cleanse your palette as a course and the meal just wasn't up to scratch with a poor selection there was no reception...
