Hi and welcome to the bridge street lounge and grill. Lying 2 miles from Chelmsford in the quaint Norman village of Writtle, we aim to bring you the finest dining. Totally renovated and tastefully restructured with no expense spared, we have transformed the once aging Cock and Bell public house into a high class restaurant. Why not try a steak cooked on our Inka grill or a carefully selected dessert by our pastry chef. After your meal join us at the bar and enjoy one of our fine cocktails made by our professional bartenders.

It's changed it's name - but more important it's changed it's atmosphere.

When this restaurant was the Blue Bridge it was without atmosphere. No matter how good the food was it just felt cold and bare. It has had a make over and now feels warm and friendly ( the staff are friendly too! ). The food has always been of a good standard and the set lunch menu two courses... read more

Superb lunch. The restaurant decor is exquisite. The menu options were great. I had pork cheeks which melted in my mouth, someone had the seafood linguine and 2 others had fish and chips and we could not fault the meal. Desserts all round we chose the summer crumble and vanilla custard. Delicious. £15 for 2 courses plus a glass of... More

The most welcoming place for food and drinks in Writtle. I'm a local resident and I choose spending time at Bridge Street over many places in London. Always a great welcome by the team, especially Lili (the boss) Sian (who likes Bakewell tart flavoured drinks X) and of course the cutting edge barman Jack.

A massive thank you to all the staff at the restaurant. Enjoyed the meal, the children were entertained (mostly by the friendly staff and a few pens/paper) and this allowed my wife and I to enjoy the meal and the vibe. Lovely, great vibe and food. See you all soon

We had been to The Crown in January and thoroughly enjoyed it and was recommended Bridge St for my father in laws birthday. What a great choice. Restaurants can be lazy when it comes to Sunday roasts and not serve the best quality food. The roasts at Bridge Street were fantastic. Between us we had lamb, chicken, beef and pork... More

My husband & I had dinner here & felt that it was very over priced. The menu was limited, my fish was nice, hubby's lamb was adequate. Bill came to £124 & no one likes to see a service charge on the bill for 2 people. Won't be returning unfortunately.

Having been to the Blue Bridge many times before, my husband and I decided to try it again after the re branding. The atmosphere was excellent, the deco is modern and funky and the food was beautiful. We had the late sitting on a Saturday night, the place was busy but still room in the bar to sit and have... Our first visit to this alleged luxurious dining experience and to be fair the quality of the starter and main courses was very good particularly the choices for my vegetarian wife. The dessert menu was a disappointment as we had had the opportunity of seeing what neighbouring tables received.... we opted to share the cheese board for safety !! The... More
