The bar Turrisi is a place of worship located in Castelmola. Founded in 1947 at the hands of the rider Salvatore Turrisi, was born as an inn for foreigners where they were sipping tasty almond wine made with white grapes and infusion of bitter almonds. Structure after the war that has turned into a hotel, here you can enjoy over the almond wine, pizzas, pasta dishes ices and ice cream. Also extends over four elevations with views of the Duomo of Castelmola Gulf of Giardini Naxos and Mount Etna. He became famous for his sculptures representing the phallic worship and the very free social custom that made Taormina a cultural reference for many artists and not. Many magazines show us how one of the attractions of Sicily, but we like to think that convey a thought of being Sicilian and freedom of expression, in a structure difficult to manage since the 4 levels. Who does not know how to interpret these places far from wanting to be rude, and does not know or does not have the respect of all that, the place to find elsewhere.

The theme might be bizarre but the food is good standard Italian fayre and the best bit is the view from the roof top balcony.

Let's just say, the "objects" are pretty much in your face no matter where you look - even the tap in the toilet is a challenge! Groups of tourists would arrive and they would not stop pointing and laughing. We arrived just after 11:00 when the caffe was basicaly empty but around lunch time, it soon filled up and seeing... We took the bus from Taormina to Castelmola mainly to take in the amazing panoramic views. When we decided it was time for a snack we popped into Bar Turrisi. The second you walk through the door you can't fail but notice that the decor is "interesting". Phallic symbols dominate the place and you just have to smile. Even the... More

We stumbled across this place whilst walking around Castelmola. We popped in for a coffee, not knowing about its eccentric decor! We thought it was hilarious though; and the coffee we had was also very good. Great views it you sit on the balcony. Worth a visit!

We stopped for lunch and had delicious bruschetta (toasted bread rubbed with garlic with chopped tomatoes with onions) and a huge salad with corn, greens, mozzarella, tomatoes, and tuna. Both of these dishes were excellent. This is a very eccentric restaurant, four stories high, with interesting decorations. Good service.

Had an early lunch here and the food was good but not spectacular. Views are excellent but pretty much anywhere in Castelmola the views are great. The decor is what made it worth the trip.

A beautiful building, very interesting decor! It's a tourist attraction in its own right. The staff were friendly and service was good. We had the Turrisi almond wine which was amazing! So delicious we bought a bottle to take home. It's the kind of bar you just have to visit to say you've been!!

I ordered the Caprese salad totally out of this world! Ripened tomatoes nicely seasoned with fresh mozzarella on top.The best I have ever had! Try the almond... More

We were warned by our guide that we'd either find it funny or embarrassing and the 8 of us found it funny with one of the group so fascinated she had to take lots of pictures including the bathroom tiles. There are 4 floors and narrow staircases but the view from the top terrace is worth it. Mt Edna and... More
