The bar Turrisi is a place of worship located in Castelmola. Founded in 1947 at the hands of the rider Salvatore Turrisi, was born as an inn for foreigners where they were sipping tasty almond wine made with white grapes and infusion of bitter almonds. Structure after the war that has turned into a hotel, here you can enjoy over the almond wine, pizzas, pasta dishes ices and ice cream. Also extends over four elevations with views of the Duomo of Castelmola Gulf of Giardini Naxos and Mount Etna. He became famous for his sculptures representing the phallic worship and the very free social custom that made Taormina a cultural reference for many artists and not. Many magazines show us how one of the attractions of Sicily, but we like to think that convey a thought of being Sicilian and freedom of expression, in a structure difficult to manage since the 4 levels. Who does not know how to interpret these places far from wanting to be rude, and does not know or does not have the respect of all that, the place to find elsewhere.

Great fun, crazy decor

We were told by local friends that this was a must do. The decor is outrageously silly, but it makes the place fun... in an immature like manner. The pizza was good, and their homemade almond wine is delicious. If you have the time, I highly recommend the short bus ride up from Taormina. You can... read more

I hate to give away the surprises this restaurant holds, but feel I cannot complete this review without including some of the pictures. Some people may feel inclined to skip it if perhaps they have an aversion to human anatomy. BUT, it is good for some good giggles with the family and the food was wonderful. This was actually our... Did not eat here. Just came to see the "sights" - both from the rooftop terrace that puts you at eye level with the nearby Duomo bell tower and the rooftops of Castelmola - a medieval town that sits high above Taormina. Worth the drive up the switchback road (or take the local shuttle) to see the famous "Penis" Bar... More

A great little place worth checking out. There are stunning views from the third floor terrace. Our pizzas were lovely. We didn't know about the 'decor' until we got there but it made the whole visit more fun - and it was funny watching other people's reactions as it dawned on them.

What can one say about this bar? The decor is unique, the staff are very friendly and the granite is awesome! Set next to the Duomo it is easy to find with lovely tiered balconies overlooking a piazza.

Castelmola is a 10-minute bus ride further up the hill from Taormina and continues (albeit on a smaller scale) theme of nicely decorated sloped, winding streets with all kinds of shops and restaurants. A must-see while in Taormina. A must-see while in Castelmola is Bar Turrisi. Not a place to bring the kids if you blanch at the sight of... More

Interesting decor, excellent almond wine, especially the newly introduced red version. Food ok. Service a bit slow, but was quite busy at the time we visited.

This place is easy to find, well signposted from the bus stop, and an obvious tourist “must see” in Castelmola. The interior décor is, shall we say, a celebration of the male anatomy, and certainly different. So, is it semi-porn tourist trash? Or just a bit of fun? Or even serious Art? You will have to decide for yourself. It... More

Great Lunch on the balcony. Good atmosphere. Relaxed, comfortable and again no rush. Could have spent all day here. Go for a walk around but save time for a lunch here.
