Description: Restaurant-brasserie in the heart of Chatel-St-Denis, close to the public transport. The house also owns 4 bedrooms. The cheese fondue has been a family tradition for a century. In addition to its delicious fondue, the restaurant is famous for its inside, adorned with figures carved in wood. Each table is unique, carved or inlaid. And rather ironic, if the opposite of Tivoli is "i lov it" you do not come here by accident.

The Tivoli cheese fondue is simply the best one we had so far in Switzerland (and any where around the globe). Both the "moitié-moité" (Gruyère and Vacherin) or the Vacherin only are the best in class. Do not call the Tivoli for a gastronomic meal or a stiff service. It is basic and efficient Still, you are served in a... More

Wow. Went here on suggestion of a friend and certainly not disappointed. Great cheese fondue, charming friendly service and the best dessert. Leave space after the fondue if you can. I wished I could return again just to try all the other dessert options. An authentic swiss experience in a beautiful old wooden panelled family owned and run restaurant in... More

We ordered cheese fondue and I've to say only one thing. Order it too!!! You wants to try it and you have to try it if you're in Swiss. It's an old restaurant with woody interior and very friendly waitresses. I can't recommand you to sit down in front of the restaurant cause there is a street crossing with quitly... More

We go to the Tivoli for boeuf tartare, which is excellent and reasonably priced. Of course the cheese is good ( as all the previous reviews have stated). You can buy the same fondue cheese mix at the fromagerie across the street. The secret is the vacherin fribourgois, less salty and oh so creamy.

Centrally located the place is beautifully decorated with wooden tables and chairs and many wooden engravings on the walls that add up to the local color. The service was typical Suisse, means not too many smiles and kind words but professional and to the point..The lady that served us when she realized that we couldn't adjust the flame in the... New experience ever. This is my first time traveling to Switzerland. My friend took me to Tivoli right away, she said Tivoli serves the best Cheese fondue in town, and she was right!! Cheese was mild and good taste. Best way you should have tea while you're having cheese fondue, good for a digestion. Meringue with white cream is the... More

The fondue, in an exceptional atmosphere of all wood, carved tables, cow bells and other paraphernalia, is very good...but I have had better. (Across the market, for example and up the hill in Les Paccots). It is more or less full for lunch every day and so it was when we visited. We had the "moitié-moitié" (CHF24) and a demi-portion... After a visit to the dismal Ice Palace near Schwarzsee, my Swiss friends from Aigle treated me to a meal in this homely, charming bastion of comfort and service. No surprises. Just a whole heap of melted cheese into which pieces of crusty bread and mini whole potatoes could be dipped, accompanied by a not unusually great Swiss red wine.... More

Tivoli has had the reputation over decades to serve among the best, if not the best, cheese fondue to be found in a restaurant in Switzerland. As we talk of a restaurant close to the mecca of cheese, Gruyères, we may be talking of the best restaurant served fondue in the world. This reputation is alive and deserves to be.... More

Nothing to look at from the outside, but step through the doors and you are transported to the Switzerland of your dreams. The walls are covered with wood carvings, and suspended from the ceiling is a collection of the largest cowbells I've ever seen. The last time went it was a miserable day, so hot chocolate was the obvious choice.... More
