We had a fantastic dinner at Paddagang (Belgium Kitchen) to celebrate a birthday. All four of us had the steak and it was perfectly prepared. The vegetables were delicious and the chips freshly made. We were seated close to the fireplace, which was really nice. The owner and the chef each checked to see if we were happy and the... More

A yum-yum lunch at Paddagang where we had the best pie in a long time! "Doen so voort!" Their 'flippenice' wine was just that: flippen nice! Good service and a lovely feel in the restaurant will bring us back.

A few minutes after we sat down the elderly owner noticed us and his first words were "Do you have a reservation?" which made us feel as though we had been caught gatecrashing a party. There are definitely politer ways of doing this - a greeting first might have been nice. Particularly since none of his staff had greeted us... More

I have been to Paddagang a number of times fort he good food, was very disappointed when I took my family there to find all has changed and they do not serve traditional South African food any more. The service was awful and the waitress did not even try to make the experience good by a simple this as being... More

Based on recommendations of locals we booked at Paddagang Restaurant during our stay in Tulbagh. A pretty waitress seated us on cheep plastic garden chairs and assisted us with choosing a lovely bottle of wine. Little did we know that this was to be the last enjoyment for the evening. There were only 3 tables at the restaurant yet our... More

The restaurant has closed and "The Belgian Kitchen" has taken over the site. I don't know why it closed, or any other details.

We ate here the one evening we stayed in Tulbagh. Besides the lack of atmosphere (or non existence there of) the food was awful. I had a sirloin steak which resembled chewy cardboard. My boyfriend had a platter with a few different things on such as waterblommetjie stew, babootie and chicken pie. The stew was so overly salted that it... More

The place was recommended at Ceres so we drove there especially to lunch. We were very disappointed and extremely bored. I had very fatty mushrooms. The burgers were average and chip unappetising. All of this after an extremely long wait. Won't be back.

Set in an old Dutch Colonial Building, typical Afrikaans interior, greeted by friendly staff. The food is of the highest standard. Great value for money. I would go back there if the opportunity arose again. Highly recommended
