We enjoy True South, its a local establishment that offers in house brewed beer and ciders and a varity of food options. Food can be a little on the high cost side but is great quality and delicious. Have been there 15+ times now and never left dissappointed.

We really enjoyed the tapas here on Sunday for lunch. We ordered 6-7dishes between 4 of us which was plenty. Very tasty yummy food. Certainly would be our local if we lived in Black Rock. The service was also great. Will hopefully be back before we head home to Christchurch.

Love this place, and extremely lucky to live 5 minutes away!! Wonderful food, excellent service, PLUS brewing it's own beer = winning combination.

Gorgeous location opposite Black Rock Coastal beach, have tried various meals there, but have always found the meals to be on the 'small serving size'. Calamari main meal needs to be double the size for anyone to feel like they have even had a 'Main Meal'. Entree potatoes were dry & sparse-lacking flavour. Great service re explanation of what the... went here for dinner with another couple. sun setting over the bay was pretty as it went down - you may want to have sunglasses though for the glare. They have some interesting beers (the brewery itself has been moved) and the wine list had a few I would have liked to try beyond the one we chose and most... More

Took my wife here for a surprise dinner, and was hoping to get something authentic from her homeland.. so many places to claim to be authentic, and are fusion, and cross between Mexican etc... the food is so different... you can't compare!.. great food, great beer, great staff... great experience... well recommended... Will be coming back.. great experience.

Had my first visit to True South last weekend and really enjoyed the experience. The specials were interesting and very tasty. Loved the black pudding and asparagus salad! Something for everyone on this menu, will definitely try the pigs head next time, looked amazing!Staff are inconsistent. We went from a a lovely waitress to a girl who managed to spill... More

Been a few times now for both lunch and dinner. Excellent service, intriguing menu well presented. And beers and ciders are great to experiment.

Enjoyed a great selection of sharing plates with friends on a Sunday night. The wine list is small but has some really interesting wines. I am Gluten free and found the plenty of options which included yummy cheese rolls called chipas. Some reviews i read said they found the food expensive, I personally found most plate sizes very generous and... More
