A sunday lunch to beat all sunday lunches!

I eat there (mostly dinner) several times per year, and I have always been satisfied. Very good food indeed, quite generous, large portions. What I particularly like is it is always fresh, tasty, warm and cooked to perfection. The menu had something different and interesting every time I have been. Last night I had a starter of goat's cheese fondant... More

I've been going to the Alford now for well over 15 years or so and it never fails to deliver absolutely deliver first class food. That combined with the atmosphere and the friendly staff always make for an enjoyable visit whether lunch or dinner, or indeed just dropping in for a drink in the bar at the front or the... More

Popped in after a lovely walk in the area on a Sunday lunchtime. The place was absolutely packed and no tables to be had, however, we were put on the waiting list and after sitting at the bar sampling their very well kept ales, we we seated after around 45 minutes. Food and service excellent and a lovely relaxed atmosphere... More

Went here the other day with two friends I used to work with. I've been several times before and this day was no exception to the Alford Arms standards. Food, service, atmosphere - all were great. My friends seemed to have a good meal in terms of their meals and repartee with the staff, so I was a happy camper.... More

This is one of our favourite pub/restaurants and it is still excellent. Always busy, with a good atmosphere, even for a Monday lunch. We were not sure about the new menu but having tried four different main courses and deserts, they all tasted really good. The service was also very good albeit a tad slow towards the end.

After hearing a lot about the pub I decided to give it a go. I booked ahead so not to be disappointed. Had to wait about 20 mins for our table to be ready which is fine considering how busy they were. We were shown to our table and the menus dumped in front of us. The reason I choose... More

We returned after a couple of years to the Alford Arms for a birthday celebration. The experience was mixed. The new menu that has just been started seems to lack substance. A number of fringe .items without any plain white fish or lamb. The specials increase the selection available but we found it difficult to choose a main course or... More

I recently had lunch there. The pub is in a lovely location, down a country lane with plenty of parking. Instead of having a main I opted for two starters 1.a special on the day of Potato Croquette stuffed with cheese, this half worked for me, the half with cheese in it 2. was calamari which was ok. I will... More
