I recently had lunch there. The pub is in a lovely location, down a country lane with plenty of parking. Instead of having a main I opted for two starters 1.a special on the day of Potato Croquette stuffed with cheese, this half worked for me, the half with cheese in it 2. was calamari which was ok. I will... More

Visited with friends who love locally otherwise we would never have found it! Despite being WAY off the beaten track, it was packed on a Thursday night in January - food was fantastic, atmosphere welcoming and staff so friendly - esp our waitress Cat!! Wonderful ''village-y'' feel - LOVED IT!!

We used to come here a lot, but hadn't been for some time after a couple of visits with poor service. The nearby Martins Pond is temporarily shut so we gave the Alford a chance! And our Sunday lunch was good. Food excellent, choice of beers splendid, service still a bit patchy, it depends on who you get to serve... More

Dropped in for lunch yesterday, on spec, and managed to secure a table in what was otherwise a fully booked venue - mid week - for lunch! And apparently it's always like this! Loved the atmosphere, staff were very welcoming and efficient, and the food was fabulous. Husband had the brill fillet special which he reckoned, overall, was the best meal... More

Apart from the fact I always get lost coming here (which is about twice a year) - it's been reliable in terms of quality and still is. We were a little let down by service which had neglected to remember that we had asked for quiet table (but there was an apology for this) and rather hard-sold us on bread... More

This is a great pub to eat in - and the beer's very nice too - local Tring Brewery produce by and large. In the last review that I wrote I expressed puzzlement at a restaurant that seemed to attract more good reviews than it could possibly deserve. In the case of the Alford Arms I can only suggest that... More

Always a pleasure to revisit the Alford Arms - delicious and inventive menus, good wine list and welcoming & attentive bar and restaurant staff. What else can you ask for in a pub?

Took my in laws who won't be spending Christmas Day with us for pre Christmas Dinner. The ambiance was very Christmasy and the setting was very nice. The food was one of the best Christmas meals I have had . I didn't have a starter to make room for pudding. The Turkey was cooked to perfection as was all the... More
