I have been to the Alford Arms on a number of occasions over many years and it has been consistently good. This small pub always seems to be busy in the evenings, it has a cosy atmosphere and there is always a good buzz. The food is to a very high standard and can be relied upon to include some... More

Went for lunch on 15 May after not having been for a year or so following two very poor meals in the past. The meal we had yesterday was very very mediocre, the bubble and squeak particularly disappointing when I think what it used to be! The bubble and squeak consisted of two very greasy potato cakes (might even have... More

A long standing gastro-pub, with a good local reputation that it sometimes struggles to maintain, due in part to its popularity. Part of a small group (Salisbury & Co) with similar menus / service style / standards. Good, but not exciting pub food, some small portions and some indifferent execution sometimes don't meet expectations. However, will probably try again.......

We took a party of 11 on a Saturday evening. Everyone really enjoyed the food and the convivial but relaxed atmosphere. The pea soup was light and tasty. The sausages were probably the most meaty I've had, and I like sausages. Well worth a visit if you are anywhere near Hemel Hempstead but be aware of the huge pot holes... More

I have dined at the Alford Arms on several occassions and the food and drink has always been excellent, the pub is a lovely English country pub The wine list is very good for a pub and the beers are very well kept. One of my favourites in the local area.

The Alford Arms nailed it today with some lovely roast dinners and beautiful crumbles. Simple food executed to a high standard. Top that off with good service, sunshine and incredible surroundings you can't go wrong. A pint of Smuggler was superb and a Tring Brewery beer in tap finished the afternoon off in style. Until the next time...

This is nearly my local, but haven't visited for a while as it is always so busy and sometimes difficult to get a seat if you are only drinking. We came to celebrate my birthday with a meal with close family. The food is delicious - I remembered the bubble and squeak so had the main version of this -... More

The Alford Arms is a wonderful pub, we regularly visit and are never disappointed! The staff are friendly and very welcoming and the food is top notch. The Bubble and Squeak or 'double bubble' if you're feeling brave, is legendary!

This is part of the Salisbury group and every one of their pub/restaurants is consistantly good. The Alford Arms is my local and wow what a great place to pop in for a drink, lunch or dinner. The restaurant is small-ish so you need to book, but you can eat out side or in the bar any time. Set in... More
