Great meal poor service.

Wow what meal, arived around an hour before our table was ready , so enjoyed a drink outside. Starters were both fantastic I had the asparagus which cooked perfectly my wife had falafel mmmm. Main course we both enjoyed the steak and I have to say it was as good a steak as I have ever had and would... read more

Lovely country pub with a great atmosphere with friendly and efficient bar staff. The food we had was delicious (the chips are the best I have ever tasted)! The place is dog friendly which is a bonus. Not the cheapest of places but you get what you pay for.... good quality locally sourced food. They also cater for gluten free... More

Food is outstanding, with an amazing seasonal specials menu. Lots of high quality, locally sourced produce and a great wine list. Not the cheapest but great value for money - you get what you pay for. Make sure you book well in advance or you won't get a table

Been here loads.struggled to get a table when we wanted dined at 1530 is that late lunch or early tea.anyway we went for it we had huge pauses between food/service . But staff did eventually realise there had been a problem and did their best to redeem the situation . maybe when you have high standards as this venue does... More

Although friendly, the staff did not know what they were doing. One did not know how to set a tab and another couldn't find our bill, giving us someone else's! One brought a bottle of wine and not a glass, one couldn't pronounce items on the menu... The location is lovely for a walk, after which we returned and ordered... More

What a shame. Great food - compliments to the Chef. However the front of house staff need some real basic training in how to talk to a customer. Real simple stuff but if there was any other competition in the area this restaurant would be empty.

We had heard good things about this gastro pub and were looking forward to visiting for Sunday lunch. Our booking was made some six weeks previously as it had been exceptionally difficult to book - however upon arriving at the restaurant to be told they were unable to find our booking. Eventually they managed to seat us in the bar... More

Popped in for lunch on Saturday after walking the dog in the woods. Lovely pretty pub, surrounded by woodland. Sat outside in the sunshine, was a bit chilly, but there is a whicker basket full of blankets! Had the bubble and squeak with bacon and poached eggs, was delicious, will definitely go back soon.

A celebratory dinner in a pub I have been to many times in my youth. This has always been a great place in a wonderful country setting. The restaurant is somewhere I have always enjoyed but the revamped menu is special. 4 diners, 2 shared starters of Bubble and Squeak and the bread basket. Both were excellent. Mains were Spaghetti... Booked the Alford Arms for my girlfriend's birthday dinner. They were very accommodating when we added two more people to the booking. We were shown to our table in the restaurant area by friendly staff. Warmed up with some breads, olives and a bottle of very reasonably priced prosecco. I opted for a starter of bubble and squeak with bacon,... More
