Visited Berkhamstead on our narrow boat and walked the length of the high street from our mooring viewing the restaurants recommended on Tripadvisor. We had more or less decided to go somewhere else and just went to have a look at Gatsby's to check out the building but decided it looked like a fun place to spend a Friday night... More

Fantastic food and service to help us celebrate our wedding anniversary. The salmon starter was to die for!

I went with my family for a special Mother's Day lunch on Mothering Sunday . The service , food and ambience were exceptional and whether they were paddling like ducks under the water, above it all was calm and efficiency. I have been back since and the standard has not dropped. A wonderful place to be wined and dined. I... More

We were invited by friends recently to have sunday lunch at this restaurant. We were nicely surprised by the friendliness of the staff and the quality of the food. On certain sundays they have either a Pianist or Jazz players, it wasnt very noisy , just a nice level so you could still hear yourselves talk. A very lovely lunch... More

We visited for a wedding reception and i must say i was blown away by both the superb service and faultless food. The venue itself is beautiful (a 1920's cinema) with Art Deco design throughout. Normally wedding meals are a disappointment but we devoured Beetroot Cured Salmon with Asparagus, A duo of Lamb ( Rump served medium and a confit... More

We recently celebrated a special birthday at the Gatsby. Wow what a place!! The service was fantastic, the overall feel of the place was quality. There was the resident pianist playing during the evening who was fantastic and made the evening extremely enjoyable. There is a great range of cocktails. The food was out of this world. Hats off to... More

Love the quality of the food. The surroundings are unique art deco, in keeping with the listed building. In summer the busy tables out side create a Parisian atmosphere in Berkhamsted. The Rex Cinema located right beside The Gatsby gives a great excuse (as if you need one) to eat before the movie then wind down afterwards. All in walking... More

We visited with a group of friends and had a great evening. We were seated in an old fashioned booth, sampled great food from a really varied menu for food and wine and had an accomplished pianist tinkling the ivories in the background! From welcoming cocktails through to desserts to die for- a real recommend which could only be improved... More

The Gatsby is in a fantastic location but is a bit above itself and comes across as a bit presumptuous. Great Bar, good for popping into after an evening at The Rex Cinema. Food good but pricey for what it is. Had a disastrous New Year's Eve Dinner there in 2011, wouldn't ever do it again.
