30th Birthday Party Dinner & Cocktails

Great independent bar and restaurant that caters for larger parties with ease. We enjoyed pre dinner drinks in the foyer and then an excellent 3 course meal served by experienced friendly staff. Everyone commented on what a superb venue, it ticked all the boxes for us. I would recommend.

I thought the restaurant tried very hard, and they succeeded! The food was very well presented and had lovely flavours. The beautiful white tablecloths weren't wasted on me, and gave a 'special occasion' feel to the evening. Although I enjoyed the pianist, it did make the restaurant a little noisy for conversation. I don't think this will be a concern... More

a reunion dinner with wives and girlfriends, great place to dine at, good atmosphere good food, and the menu was very varied, will definitely be going back, ideal if you like old fashioned cinemas as this is a 1930 style flicks with new and old films, sitting at tables in the cinema and grand deco for the period, the restaurant... We went here before going the the Rex. We were initially wowed by the entrance and the warm greeting from the staff (well dress may I add loving the trouser braces combo!) The service was second to none and the food very nice. Although we fully understand the set menu has to be limited a little bit more of diversity... More

On Monday, I attended a large function of some 70 people at the Gatsby. This is the second time that I have been to a large gathering there and about the fifth time there overall. We had ordered from a limited but nevertheless good menu some time earlier. As ever, the food was excellent, it was served hot and in... More

I have had lunch here several times with my friends and the food and service have been second to none. The only thing it's lacking in a bit is atmosphere because it's never very busy when we've been there. But to be honest that's fine because we like to talk and catch up. Love it.

My brother had his wedding lunch here and it was very good. Considering that they had to accommodate a fairly large party and get the food out all at the same time taking account of peoples choice, it was very well orchestrated. The atmosphere was pleasant and the staff very attentive. The choice of menu was excellent and surprised me... More

The food was very well prepared and tasty. Felt like a home cooked meal. Albeit very expensive and a bit pretentious.

Cocktails and wine very good but the food was poor. Re-heated vegetables and a large chunk of duck constituted the main course. Sophisticated cooking it wasn't. Expensive it was. Neither of us could eat the dessert because it was much too sweet. Service was indifferent. I gave written feedback to the restaurant the next day but they couldn't be bothered... More

We visited on Saturday 19th with family. Excellent cocktails before the main event in the restaurant. Service, presentation & taste first class as always. Great fillet with amazing sauce. Best venue in Berkhamsted by far.
