Travel out of our way to buy from them

There a few fish shops near us but we travel about 10 minutes out of our way to buy from these guys as their fish and chips are very good and such large portions and quality is always high. they are always busy but the staff always cope and the wait is not too long

I visit McCoys regularly and am always amazed at the size of their portions. If you order a large cod and chips you'd better be very hungry! Fish is cooked while you wait which means it's nice and fresh and they also have an extensive menu of other types of food. A good example of what a fish and chip... More

Wasn't too hopeful when strolled up to McCoys as it's as plain as a chip shops come. Absolutely blown away by the quality of the food they produce though. Not too greasy, just perfect chips. Well priced too

On a Friday night the queue is outside the door but it's all worth the wait. Each item freshly cooked, light batter and nice chips. Excellent example of the great British chippy.

As a Northern lass I've always been so disappointed with the fish and chips 'down south' so to find this little gem is fantastic. Fish, chips and mushy peas piping hot and excellent value for money. Have to praise the staff too - very friendly and efficient. Will have to make it a regular treat!!

Cracking little chippy in Northchurch. We ordered 7 medium cod and chips. Obviously this order takes a while to produce. Not a problem at McCoy's as you can relax on the faux leather armchairs whilst enjoying a subtitled show on the TV. Lovely fish and chips with batter as golden as the fryer's hair. Chips were crispy and piping hot.... More

Great refurbished shop width friendly staff, had to wait around 15 minutes, but it was well worth the wait. Fish was freshly cooked to order and tasted amazing, chips were so nice, and got to watch the tv while I waited. I've tried a lot of fish and chips from around England, and this was the best I've had!

Went to the Northchurch McCoys and it was heaving, had to wait for about an hour enjoying their new sofa but I am pleased to write it was worth it. These were the best fish 'n' chips in the area and the best I have tasted since Dartmouth which is a bit nearer the sea!
