They should have kept this building as Woolworths! Waiter was lovely, can't fault that. Had garlic bread which was 4 small pieces of bread, 2 pasta dishes 1 with chicken 1 with meatballs. Complained about the size of the dishes as it looked like a starter. Asked for more chicken as my husband counted 3 small pieces! A bag of... More

Disappointed with the limited menu. 4 of us ate there and none of us had a starter just bread and oil to start with followed by 4 mains and a irish coffee. With a bottle of wine purchased and a couple of beers the bill came to £125.00p which to be honest I found steep! I can think of a... More

We got a table for 5 on a Saturday night without booking, so that was good, but it went downhill from there really. The food was a little overpriced, and not a huge selection, it's quality was average, staff were pleasant but service not exceptional. What really made this outing so unpleasant was the unbearable noise level. We could not... More

Went here with friends last week, was very busy but a good atmosphere. Service was great but the food is very overpriced for what it is. Glad we had a voucher!

Went at lunch during the week and it was filled with yummy mummies meeting their friends and letting their children run rampant. The food was really good and the waitress appeared rushed off her feet. She was kind enough to see me and the other half in a small corner devoted to adult couples. Would recommend the garlic bread -... More

Had a meal at Ask last night with two friends. Chicken and Mushrooms in Marsala Sauce with French Beans and Roasted New Potatoes - £12.15 Probably the worst meal I've had in a long time and the chef should be ashamed of himself. The chicken had been cooked separately, the mushrooms had only been consulted slightly as 4 slices of... More

This is a standard Ask restaurant based in the old Woolworths store in Rayleigh High Street. We have eaten here a number of times since it opened and it can get very noisy due to some poor accoustics. It is certainly not the place to go if you want a quiet romantic meal for two! In saying this, the food... More
