We had a group of people for dinner. The shared starters (especially scallops) were amazing! The food overall was so yum and there were no complaints at all from our group. The waitress paired the wine beautifully. Thank you

We were dining with Melbourne friends who raved about this 'gastro' pub. Hmmm ..not too sure why. It was ok and the food was generous in portions but frankly I am not sure it was better than any $10 schnitzel pub in Sydney even though when the word 'gastro' is put in front of the word ' pub ' prices... We vist this 'pub' 1/month. Whilst we enjoy the outdoor pavement atmosphere during warmer weather, the same cannot be said of the bar staff. On our most recent visit, self, husband and daughter were initially put off by the surly and unfriendly bar staff..yesterday particularly the tall, bearded gentleman. The mean portions of the food which arrived dishevelled and unembellished on... More

Not particularly busy on a Wednesday evening. Overly air conditioned is my only complaint, especially as the weather in Melbourne was so cool then (second week of the Australian Open Tennis)! Food was good quality and the local fish recommended by our waiter tasted very good to a first timer. The wine he helped us select was also very acceptable.... More

I might not have been dressed liked the the locals on a Sunday arvo, but certainly didn't appreciate the single barman giving me the "i'll be with you shortly, chief", and attending to the attractive young women lining up on the other side of the bar after me. Won't be returning. A shame your barman on this day was prepared... More

This was our second visit and the sense was the same that this was good food but quite pricey value wise. The need for sides ordering is while not unusual still irritating. Even so Yu feel like some of the pricing is about location rather than restaurant. Unsure what Port Philip councils deal is with car parking which is complex.

Part & parcel of the fabric of South Melbourne this award-winning venue is well-managed & serves great food both in the restaurant & the bar... This visit we elected to dine in the restaurant... For appetisers/entrees we shared the cauliflower fritters, chicken spring rolls & the charcuterrie board... Our main course selections included their signature beef & Guinness pie, veal... More

I have been coming to this iconic Melbourne Hotel for over two decades. I'm from Brisbane and generally get down here with my mates on at least two occasions during the year to attend the spring racing Carnival and also the Australian open tennis. On my recent visit to O'Connell's during the Australian open tournament - I attended for dinner... More

Went here for our Work Xmas Breakup Bash. It has a very nice feel pub down stairs, nice outside area and small function rooms upstairs. Staff were excellent but the best thing of all was the Food! Oh man the food was great had a 3 course meal and everything was on point. My favourite was the Quail and the... More
