Publican knows his stuff!!! Best of all knows his craft beer! Meals came out fast and the beer glass wasn't empty for long!

Had lunch here with a couple of friends last week - all very impressed with their meals. All had different items off the menu - lambs fry, steak, chicken and lamb - no one was disappointed. Service was friendly and efficient and the wine list was great! On the pricey side but you get what you pay for! Love coming... More

I've been to the wayside a couple of times in 2013 and each time had a great lunch with good food & service. I booked for a table of 8 as I had some interstate guests in town from Sydney & Gold Coast and they were staying on city road so thought this would be an easy walk to get... More

Amazing. Not sure what the negative posts are about.. Small selection of beers? They have over 12 different beers on tap, and just about everything else bottled. I had the wagyu sher rump steak, and it was incredible. Cooked perfectly, hand-cut chips were delicious. Béarnaise was faultless. My partner had the blue eye special. Again, she could not fault it... The bar has a small selection of beers and is a typical pub venue with sparse decoration and the inevitable TV tuned to a sports channel hanging from the wall. The dining area is at the back of the bar, has a better atmosphere and the tables are reasonably spaced. The main courses don't come with any accompaniments so sides... More

I made a reservation for three people and the man that I spoke to was very accommodating ( we were dining with my elderly grandmother). When we arrived the waitress was going to sit us at a table for two in a fairly busy part of the restaurant ( near the bar, a fairly busy thoroughfare and not suitable for... More

Quite an inauspicious location. In fact I thought the taxi was taking me out through a very run down area. Anyway the restaurant is located on a street corner just out of town, south of the river. Probably an old pub in the past now done up. Nice atmosphere , friendly staff and steak was great. However, waiting over 30... More

My Second Visit in a month and this restaurant has what it takes. The Wayside is the sister restaurant to the Station Hotel in Footscray, a regular haunt of ours. This little sister is upholds its family name. The service, attention to detail and welcoming atmosphere all add to a great experience. Our food was stunning, we started with the... More

Recently attended a group function in the Wayside Inn's private upstairs room which was coordinated by Nadja. Started with canapés and drinks in a seperate bar and upstairs outdoor area. Dinner started with seafood platters, duck liver parfait & suckling pig terrine - delicious. Mains were a choice of King Salmon, Rotissoire Duck or Gippsland striploin. Desserts were steamed Christmas... More

This Paul doesn't look like much as you approach it, on the corner of Ferrars st and City rd. Don't judge a book by its cover. The food here is very good, of a quality you would expect from a "hatted" restaurant at much lower prices. We have shared a cold seafood platter for an entree, had main each, dessert... More
