Visited with my Cousin and her Husband in early September. They have a home nearby and took us for lunch at Restaurant du Centre in Bassoues. It was lovely, sat under the wooden awning and enjoyed a lovely set menu lunch. I'm not one for knowing exactly what's fine dining and what isn't - I'd say this was good Gascon... More

this is where we like to bring our overseas visitors, the village is so beautiful, full of history. A wonderful pottery shop, a delightful clothes boutique, ancient churches and buildings. Also pretty houses and gardens to wonder past. The menu du jour is currently 13 euros for a four course meal with wine and coffee. Hard to beat for value.... More

If you are looking for fine dining this may not be the place for you but recommended for good value if rather basic set menu especially lunchtimes. Many tables are outside in the delightful village centre of Bassoues with its traditional half timbered buildings, arcades and covered marketplace. Does get very busy but service does usually cope and booking not... More

The restaurant is in the middle of the old bastide town of Bassoues. We went there for lunch and sat outside in the sun. The place was packed but the service managed to cope without us having to wait too long for anything. We chose from the plats du jour which they served very quickly but they also have a... More

Looking forward to one of the beautiful salads that are a regional speciality: all four of us were disappointed. Someone had taken one handful of lettuce (undressed) and dumped it on the plate, followed by another handful of duck-related ingredients. The entree - magret - had been cremated: it was tough and tasted mostly of carbon. Cards not accepted: not... More

Not much to add... great value for money, lovely to sit and enjoy the setting, food and wine. It's very basic but if you're happy with home cooking it's great. Take a walk around the church before you leave.

The restaurant is mostly about the setting and the atmosphere - the food is not great, but with 4 courses for €12 that's not really to be expected, is it? Homely food decently cooked, kids will love the fat chips. Can be a bit grubby inside, but if the sun's out stay on the terrace!

Some friends who live in this area took us to this charming rustic restaurant in this idyllic French country village. The place was very busy. It was sunny and we sat outside it was very pleasant. The menu was very traditional and there were few frills here. We had the Plat de Jour at 12 euros. The vegetable soup was... More

This is an experience worth having. It is just like visiting friends and you get what is served (well, there are two choices!) The quality is good. I had turkey and my husband had a steak. They were both very good. The meal consists of four courses, beginning with soup and ending with ice-cream. We paid 22 euros for both... More
