You're in farming country and they farm ducks mainly. You can have ducks, bits of duck and Foie Gras until it's coming out of your ears! Do NOT criticize a meal, including more wine that you can drink (reasonably) that has four courses (and yes, the soup IS watery but it's got flavour and character!) AND a choice (usually 3)... More

The set lunch menu is fantastic value for money. The location is atmospheric in the centre of the town. Very enjoyable peasant food. Rustic not fancy. But it's not gastronomy.

Nice restaurant; reservation recommended; friendly service. For menu 12 euro not Michelin-star, but excellent regional food in good price-quality relation.

The tables (lots and lots of them ) are placed outside (or under the roofed main square in case of rain) in the heart of the lovely medieval 'bastide' of Bassoues, Gers. The food, though not fancy, is incredibly good value as for 12€, (same price as in 2009 and not even the price of one main course in most... More

So, so disappointed today. Despite reserving a table, they couldn't locate it. We ended up the only ones outside, and it was about to rain. I said I didn't want to sit there, but she said they were full. Half hour later it was raining, and I used a second parasol to stop my baby in a pram getting wet.... More

a tip. memorable only because I was ill afterwards though this probably was not their fault. 2 blobs because at least the waitress was pleasant though there was nothing to serve for 45 minutes from taking the order.

In the lovely central square in Bassoues, in the sunshine, the place is buzzing - what could be better? Well for a start the food! The soup was watery, the meat was chewy and the wine was crude. At 11 euro each we didn't expect gastronomic delights, but it was a disappointing lunch all the same. The service was friendly,... More

The setting is lovely and there's plenty of outdoor seating, but it's a far cry from what it was ten years ago. Once an intimate, quaint, atmospheric village restaurant with carefully prepared meals by the matriarch, it has bloated and sprawled to 300+ place settings. The set menu is inexpensive and skimpy and free flowing wine is included. Lost along... More
