Best Laksa

I drive quiet a long way to get this laksa, I am never disappointed. It is not flash but good food and quickly delivered.

The name is confusing. I'm not sure why it's called a coffee house. It should be called a Malaysian restaurant and while there is nothing really flash about it, it is what it is and serves great Malaysian food! The Seafood Laksa is always excellent and the Beef Rendang is great. The Roti and curry sauce is a great starter.... More

I have been coming to this restaurant for almost thirty years and have steadily seen the deterioration in the quality of the food. I always order Char Kway Teow which is my favourite Penang hawker dish and, for some reason, is particularly difficult to replicate. A long time ago, the Char Kway Teow at Penang Coffee House was good, although... More

I was introduced to Penang Coffee House by my boyfriend, who I think practically lived there during his time at Uni. (The owners still remember him!) they are very mindful of vegetarians - when we ordered roti bread that comes with a dipping sauce that normally has chicken stock, the waiter noted that I had ordered a vegetarian curry main,... We have been coming to Penang Coffee House for years and are always welcomed with the same warm greeting from the staff. Never once have we been let down by the food or service here. PCH offers authentic Malaysian dishes and it's simply too hard to pick a favourite, however, the Laksa Lemak is outstanding and we've never been able... More

We ordered entree with sesame prawn, pandan chicken & roti rolled with curry for $10, but the amount of food on the plate is very scanty, a tiny bite for each. The fried kway teow is recommended by the waiter but it's tasteless. The other main, chicken stir-fried with lemongrass is quite good but pricey. $50 for a simple meal... More

We have been coming here to this small restaurant on a semi regular basis for several years and it never ever disappoints. Quick service and very reasonably priced. Our fave is the "thai fried rice with a little less spice", but all other menu items have been great.

I have had the great pleasure of dinning at this restaurant since it opened in the late 1970's and it has never failed to provide the very best of authentic Malaysian hawker style food. Very welcoming owners and staff. If you like Malaysian cuisine then this will not disappoint.

Like many of the reviewers here (and many of the customers) we have been coming here for 15+ years. (We used to drive from Geelong to come and eat here.) The food is consistently great and terrific value. Service it simple but efficient. When it is busy it gets noisy but for the type of place it is, noise suits... More

Came here with a group of friends after a recommendation from somebody at work, and I was glad to find this unassuming restaurant. The address is at 549 Burwood Road, rather than 395 Burwood Road as this listing says, but I have put in a request to TA to have this listing merged with the other one which does have... More
