Great food but a bit crowded

Came here with a group of 7 for dinner, wow they really pack you in! Apart from that, food was excellent. We shared prawn balls, then a big sushi/sashimi platter, miso cod, wasabi beef (on skewers). All was fresh and tasted great. We were able to bring our own wine and the bill came to about $80... read more

My husband and I throughly enjoyed dining here at Ocha. The food served was divine and more importantly it was fresh. A warm dining environment, great for couples. Thank you for a lovely and relaxing evening.

Had dinner with friends at Ocha in Hawthorn. It is a busy little place and positions itself as fine Japanese fusion dining? Our visit was a bit of a mixed bag. The food overall was quite good, but was a bit slow in arriving. We had 1 diner with allergies and needed special attention, which was responsive and very good.... More

This was a really bad lunch with no redeeming aspects. The service was almost nonexistent until you asked the waiter " where is our..."( Probably understaffed). We each ordered a version of the Bento Lunch box and three of us had the "Original" and one had another one. Priced at $38 for each, the quantity was way below what one... More

Went to Ocha for a year end lunch and the restaurant was overcrowded. Not sure whether that would be the case on every occasion, but it did make it a little difficult to enjoy the experience. I'm a big fan of Japanese cuisine and Ocha makes a solid contribution - fresh seafood, well executed. My favourite dish was the oysters... More

Is it a good idea to have seafood on Sunday night in Melbourne? Based on tonight’s experience, I don’t think so. We were shown our table as if the waiter was in a hurry to attend to something else. After 15 minutes we were served with some pickled julienned vegetables. It probably set the tone. They were limp and tasteless.... More

I'd give this restaurant 4.5 stars. Visited here on and off for lunch but the food here has always been wonderful. Presentation is outstanding but some dishes may be a bit overpriced for the portions that they serve. I highly recommend their salmon canape dish, prawn balls and salmon wrapped in a thin deep fried pastry (can't remember the name... More

Japanese is my favourite and I have eaten it all around the world but Ocha has to be the best! I have never had such fresh and delicious Japanese in such a lovely pleasant environment. I will definitely be visiting again soon. Keep up the great work!

Busy place- but attentive staff with helpful and intelligent things to say about the food. Quick service for drinks and food- and the sharing menu our waiter put together produced a truly fantastic meal.

The food was great but the servings were too small. I was still hungry when I got home. I didn't think we got enough food for the amount we paid. Nothing beats the Japanese Restaurant in Sydney it was worth every cent.
