Motel style like PSCHO

Stopped over for concert. Handy for motorway etc but rooms felt like sheds with door not sealing out drafts, as could see out one side. Still heating was on so not cold, and food in restaurant although not fantastic was cheap so overall value was good. We are going for another concert this year and... read more

Just came with a few friends, had a prawn cocktail starter, no prawns. I didn't want to. Say anything because it was busy enough as it was so didn't want to have to wait for a few prawns to be thrown on it so just ate the wilted lettuce and congealed seafood sauce and stale bread.. Main was okay, so... More

First and last visit, we booked for 10 people and was sqeezed onto a two tables that would have seated four each so very squashed. starter was cold, roast dinner over cooked stuffing and yorkshire hard and unedible. When we informed the waitress she wasn't really listening to busy collecting plates, and then asked us what we wanted her to... More

We always use the Charnwood arms every weekend with the kids. We enjoy the serves and the food at a great price but the last 2 times of visiting it's been extremely disappointing food over cooked, pasta dried up and hard was awful. The manager was extremely apologetic and offered us a free dessert, to which I refused due to... More

Visited the restaurant on may occasions in the past and this time whilst staying at the hotel, ordered a piggy platter and a 8oz sirloin with added scampi. The meals was well presented and plentiful, the pulled pork balls on the piggy platter and the scampi where slightly overcooked to the point they where brown, all the other items where... More

Took my 11 year old daughter out for lunch, my daughters meal chicken New Yorker was nice and the chips hot, freshly cooked. Mine however, rump steak was cooked perfect, but the chips tasted liked they had been sat in a warming pan for far too long, Luke warm and limp. Didn't want to complain as steak was nice, but... My wife and I called for a quick meal noting the advertised offer, we did not notice that the offer was distributed at odd sections of the menu and as such purchased a more expensive meal than expected. The meal we chose was cooked to perfection with plenty on the plate and good quality.

The Charnwood Arms is part of a chain that offers value pub meals and you get what you expect. The food is good value and decent enough. Perfect for stopping off for a cheap meal with good sized portions, but don't expect fine dining or top quality.
