Best service in a long time - and good food!

We were three for a business-lunch. We all had a christmasplatter. It came in three servings. first herring, fried fish, smoked salmon and a cold terrine. Then roast duck, roast porc and brie and last a "ris a la mande" - traditional Danish dessert of the season. The waiters were friendly, fun and... read more

Before visiting, we checked on-line for eateries and local places to try the local delicacies. We were pleasantly surprised with this place as we were greeted with a welcoming smile and treated just like the locals (even with us being English). The waitress and waiters were very helpful and patient when it came to translating the menu and certain foods... More

This was not my first time. Coming to CPH means you have to try the Danish Smorrebrod. Cant wait to get back..... One of the best places is here. Great service, super authentic real Danish Smorrebrod without any modernities = just the way it should be. Cant wait to get back.....

The ”family garden” restaurants close to the Copenhagen zoo are a great tradition. Hansens Gamle Familiehave is the oldest one of them. A visit to such a traditional, old Danish restaurant, should- in my opinion - be a bit like visiting your grand-parents, with the guaranty of good traditional food – made “old school” with care from scratch – and... We wanted something tradional and down-to-earth and we got it. The people and the food were amazing and well worth the trip. Great selection of platters so that you can get a taste of everything Danish cuisine has to offer and our server had a great sense of humour!

I wanted to visit this place for more than 50+ years and finally made it! A step I will never regret. We had booked a table and thank god, as the place was extremely busy, but we were shown to the table by a happy waiter. No stress as far as we could tell. Our order we taken and the... More

We were four friends eating here on a Saturday in September. Since I live abroad and only spend a week or two in Denmark a year I am a sucker for proper Danish food when I get to Denmark, and this place certainly delivers on that. For dinner the restaurant has an extensive open faced sandwich menu (smørrebrød), and also... More

We visited Hansens with a large group for an early supper/late lunch, and it was marvelous. This a traditional place that serves traditional Danish food, especially smorrebrod. It was here that I was introduced to that special Danish sandwich known, for reasons wholly obscure, as "the veterinarian's midnight snack", made up of Danish rye, butter, liver pate, a type of... Staying in Frederiksberg

Neighborhood Profile
Frederiksberg
Located between Noerrebro and Vesterbro you’ll find Frederiksberg, which is actually a municipality in itself but completely surrounded by Copenhagen. Here there are several fine theaters, from the experimental to the great Det Ny Teater (The New Theater) which specializes in transcribing the great London and New York musicals into Danish, and has done so for several years with huge success. In Frederiksberg you’ll find Denmark’s most beautiful (and expensive) city villas. These 4-5 square miles form the Beverly Hills of Copenhagen. Here you’ll also find Frederiksberg Have (Garden) which sports huge outdoor concerts, from classical to electronic dance music. To top it off, dining options range from cozy family restaurants to some of the area’s most trendy cafés.
