Called for an early supper mid-week and found most tables had been pre-booked, a small table was free and we enjoyed a drink and ordered a meal. An hour later our food arrived! I was very disappointed by the tough lamb which was not a cheap dish. The acting manager graciously made a deduction from the bill but the experience... More

Had lunch here at the end of our stay in Peaks. We had, farmer's plate, Steak and Guinness pie and Roast Beef and traditional Bakewell Tart with icecream. Everything was excellent. Especially the liver pate on Farmer's plate and Steak and Guinness pie. Good variety of local ales too.

The number of tables already reserved hinted that the food must be good and sure enough we were not disappointed. My wife, often the recipient of Hobsons choice – being a veggie, found a nice selection of mains to choose from and chose a very... More

Very Nice local pub, excellent food, great ale and cider, great service. We ate there the night they had folk Music, and it was really great.

I visited as part of a group of 16 on Sat 1st August, We had pre booked and were pleased that we had since on arrival it looked like every table was taken. As part of a large group we all tried various dishes ranging from cajun chicken, caribbean chicken, large yorkshire pudding, lasagne, battered haddock. Everyone devoured their dishes... More

Lovely pub serving great pub food with generous portions. They accommodated a group of 16 people for dinner without any problems. Service was great and the staff were very friendly.

Attractive building, lots of character. warm welcome from the staff and very busy. Food OK but nothing special, menu promises more than it delivers. Caribbean chicken was a plain grilled chicken breast on a few slices of mango and avocado with plain sweet potato and an over spiced salsa. No sauce, pretty tasteless overall. Dessert was nice but not homemade.... More

Sorry that you didn’t enjoy your meal. We try new specials on a monthly basis and perhaps the Caribbean chicken needs some improvement (we have since done so). If you had told us that you weren’t happy then we would have exchanged or refunded you so I really can’t understand that you said nothing when we asked you if you... More
