Good food. Nice atmosphere.

lovely place. one of our favourites in the area. It appears to be very popular with locals too. Food is good and reasonably priced. Dog friendly in the bar area. Busy at weekends in the restaurant. Lots of history about the place. Laid back atmosphere...very quaint. Recommended :-)

Have just spent three nights staying at The Cheshire Cheese pub in Hope. This is the second time we have stayed there and eaten in the pub. There is an excellent choice of food on the menu and the descriptions and prices do not actually do what is presented any justice. Large portions of freshly cooked food and much of... More

Went here with two friends who live locally for an evening meal. We had the sweet chilli prawn spring rolls and goats cheese/cherry tomato starters, which were very tasty. Main courses were Sea Bass, steak and ale pie, belly pork and pork loin with lots of vegetables and nice sauces. All tasty generous portions delivered by a very friendly young... More

Lovely food, served in timely fashion, good plate sizes, attention to detail, with fresh products. Location great, straight of the hillside. Really clean including the toliets. Cozy and intimate with lovely real fire

Been here twice now. Very welcoming even with dirty walking gear. Excellent pub food. Nothing to dislike.

Quaint little pub with lots of character. Attentive / friendly staff. Warm and cosy after long Winter walk. Dog friendly a bonus. Good atmosphere. Steak excellent but vegetarian food option a let down - tasteless & expensive.

We are very sorry to hear that you didn’t enjoy your vegetarian option. Had you mentioned something at the time we would have been happy to exchange for one of our other vegetarian options or offer suitable compensation. We find that constructive criticism is much more useful so that we can improve our dishes as in this case we are... More

We had looked at some of the local pubs and their reviews before our walk, however they appeared to have mixed reviews. The Cheshire Cheese stood out as a good bet - backed up by the staff in the national trust cafe at the start of our walk. It is exactly what you want from a country pub, roaring log... More

This pub is in one of the prettiest villages in the area. Its worth a visit alone just for a drink, but if you have time have a dinner there too. We had a Sunday Lunch there. We picked a day where they had an annual bike ride club having their own Xmas dinner and the atmosphere was really great.... More
