Good beer, good food.

What an excellent pub meal. As there were 14 of us we'd booked beforehand and were warned that we'd need to sit on separate tables. When we arrived we found that we were all together in a cozy part of the pub which was great. The beer was good and the menu was varied. The service was friendly... read more

Being a real ale fan I looked at this pub on line before attending. I was not disappointed. Five ales on and all were kept to a good standard. Bar staff were friendly and informative my brother in law and I had lunch it was ver pleasant. I love a building with character and unspoilt this ticked the boxes. Toilets... More

This was our lunch spot for a jaunt out to Derbyshire this weekend. Don't worry if the front car park is full as there's space around the back too. There's a nice little seating area outside too which was nice in the sunny weather. The steak and ale pie was lovely, and the draught cider went down a treat. Food... More

Went here with 'walking' friends for dinner. most impressed. The owner, Craig, knows the area very well and gave very useful tips about day-walks and things to see enroute (and off route!). Food excellent. Looked like there are some rooms available, too. Good place to stoke-up ready for next day's walk - or to relax and unwind!

Go down a side road opposite the church but just before it and towards the end of that road, is the Cheshire Cheese Pub. Full of atmosphere and quaint and unusual in its layout, but very oldy worldy and very charming. We had drinks and the food looked so good we decided to eat there. Good decision! Lasagne with salad... More

Booked an evening meal here whilst staying at the hotel just up the road. The food was absolutely scrummy ! ! We had the tray baked lamb which was to die for. The staff were excellent and very friendly. Next time we stay in the area we will stay in one of their rooms.

Called in for lunch on a Tuesday in June. The place was empty so the ambience was not too good. Its a quaint traditional pub and we were looking forward to a nice lunch as it was my husband's birthday. I had the Angler's platter with smoked salmon, prawns and mackerel and lime pate. The most disappointing thing was the... More

I am so sorry that you didn’t enjoy your lunch. Tuesday can be quiet so it is difficult to create an ambience. We have never had a complaint about the bread before and we don’t use part baked bread. I can only assume that this was a faulty batch which I will look into further. I wish you had said... More

Visited June 20th with a large group, we hadn't booked and the pub was very busy so having been told that there was "no room at the inn" we decided to have a drink in the garden, whilst we were having our drink, the very nice lady working in the bar managed to sort us two smaller tables. The food... More
