Eat here a couple of times staff really friendly, good is really good, what you want from a pub, not anything more than it claims to be, would certainly plan to eat here again. Staff were really friendly

My partner and i stayed here overnight while visiting Buxton to watch Leo Sayer. We decided to make a weekend of it and walk Kinder Scout the next day. I was surprised given our experiences to see any negative reviews of this place. We arrived early for check in and it was not a problem. The owners and staff were... More

We visited the Rambler after a short walk up the Pennine Way. We had planned to go to the Nags Head but discovered it was closed on Monday and Tuesday. I had read a poor review for the Rambler. However we received a warm welcome, drank the excellent local bitter, and were served good English pub grub piping hot. I... More

My wife came in after a long walk - a large white wine and a pint of bitter nearly £8 ridiculous worse was to come with the food - Cajun chicken burger is actually the driest piece of chicken breast with some morrisons packet Cajun spice sprinkled sparsely on it on a dry crusty muffin - £9.95 ridiculous - when... The meal I was served after 8 hours walking was truly shocking. I looked at the menu before visiting this place but immediately noticed the menu we were offered was different from that on the website. It was much smaller and more expensive. I paid £12 for an up-market burger, with bacon and onion rings. The burger used was the... More

The pub is lovely, the food don't bother, the sharing platter must have been the day before, hard ribs, stringy chicken wings, onion rings even they were naff, the bread basket, expecting chunky bits, different breads, na three slices in a basket. Don't go there I won't again .

Beautiful setting and OK food but the staff are the most unfriendly (rude) I have ever encountered. Not only that but they are incapable of serving people in order at the bar. I waited 10 mins while others who just got to the bar were served, gave up in the end and left. Food was served in a totally random... More

I visited here with a party of 11. I had mussels which were delicious and came with fresh bread. All our meals were tasty and the chips were excellent. Staff were friendly and helpful.

We had a wonderful time at our niece's wedding. Everything ran like clockwork thanks to the staff members who were always on hand.
