Great food and friendly staff

Great selection of ales. My partner had fish and chips which was very nice I had steak and ale pie which was delicious. Big portions, I couldn't finish my chips. Maybe slightly more expensive than your usual pub food, around £27 for 2 meals, and a pint and half of ale. But very nice and lovely... read more

The curry was very bland and flavourless and the rice was a microwave type and makes you wonder why this is a 'special'. I can only... More

A walker friendly pub, muddy boots and dog welcome. Good ale, food and staff. Big inside with open fires perfect for colder evenings. Love the feel of this place. Seems expensive for food, though is competitive to the area.

Good atmosphere, enjoyed food, decent portions. Plenty of space but without feeling cozy. Food served in a timely way

After a lovely long walk round the tops me and my family were dying for a warm drink. We seen that the Rambler was open with a sign that said "muddy boots welcome!" Well we were very muddy but on looking round so was everyone else. The bar was very busy but there were plenty off staff and got served... More

Visited for lunch with friends after a short walk from the railway station. We were welcomed by friendly staff and directed to a front dining room with a beautifully roaring open fire. Just the ticket on a cold December day. My friends had the home made tomato soup whilst I had the locally sourced duck liver pate. Presented well and... More

We went here on two consecutive days after long walks, and found it to be welcoming. We only wanted soup and were really pleased with a nicely flavoured carrot and coriander soup with loads of bread to mop it up. Good value.
