lovely pub, friendly staff and top quality food, defiantly recommend after a day of walking, if you can get a seat by the fire.

Came here on Saturday after a long day walking, the staff were really lovely and friendly and we had a pint of Farmers Blonde each which was really nice, however then came the food.... I ordered fish and chips and my husband had the burger and chips with a side portion of onion rings. Good pub grub is what we... More

I have visited the Rambler on a number of occasions when walking in the Peak District and usually get a meal and a few pints. This time I sampled a veggie lasagne which was very fresh and tasty, but the portion was really generous! The selection of beers and ciders is always a winner too!

Stayed two nights. Rooms clean, comfy beds. Food good standard pub fayre. Staff all very friendly. Sign outside says 'muddy boots welcome'. Personally I would take them off at the door to save the carpet though. Highly recommended for Pennines Wayers and other walkers.

After a long days walking we visited the Rambler for evening meal two courses for £12 each was a good price food was average but the beer was good and the staff were really friendly which more than made up for it. Would have been even better if they had lit the log fire on a cold December night it... More

Eat here a couple of times staff really friendly, good is really good, what you want from a pub, not anything more than it claims to be, would certainly plan to eat here again. Staff were really friendly

My partner and i stayed here overnight while visiting Buxton to watch Leo Sayer. We decided to make a weekend of it and walk Kinder Scout the next day. I was surprised given our experiences to see any negative reviews of this place. We arrived early for check in and it was not a problem. The owners and staff were... More

We visited the Rambler after a short walk up the Pennine Way. We had planned to go to the Nags Head but discovered it was closed on Monday and Tuesday. I had read a poor review for the Rambler. However we received a warm welcome, drank the excellent local bitter, and were served good English pub grub piping hot. I... More

My wife came in after a long walk - a large white wine and a pint of bitter nearly £8 ridiculous worse was to come with the food - Cajun chicken burger is actually the driest piece of chicken breast with some morrisons packet Cajun spice sprinkled sparsely on it on a dry crusty muffin - £9.95 ridiculous - when...
