Beautiful meal and very reasonable!

Took my partner here for his 30th. We went mid- week and it was about a 2hr drive there and 1.5hr drive back!! Roads very windy to get there and unfortunately it was dark so we couldn't see the views but the building was still stunning when we turned up. Service was excellent. We had the meat five... read more

To be looked up and down by a waitress is not a good start. Ushered into an unfriendly tired and cold lounge to wait for drinks... a long wait and incredibly overpriced. Zero atmosphere and the most pretentious place I have ever visited. The staff would benefit from a stint at The Savoy to learn the art of real customer... More

A 2nd visit to this fantastic restaurant in Nidderdale;on arrival we were mad to feel welcome;drinks were served in the rest room while we perused the fare on offer. One thing that struck me was that Francis had gone out of way to get the diners to sample the local Birds on offer including Pheasant;Goose etc on her menu.Only one of... First time eating here and was very impressed. From the moment you arrive it's a classy place, we were seated by the fireplace while we looked at the menu. We had the taster menu and every course was very good. Will definitely be returning. Only regret was not staying over so that I could try more of the wines and... More

A wet, windy miserable november tuesday was forgotten by the creative cooking here today. The 3 of us chose the tasting menu and we had course after course of sublime flavours, tastes, textures and unforgettable food. It was a treat of the highest order,we were spoilt rotten from start to finish. Everything was perfect, the service professional and kind, the welcome sincere and the Yorke... More

We arrived on a grey and dull November lunchtime and were soon warmed by a pre luncheon drink next to the roaring fire in the residents lounge. The set lunch menu provided some tempting options and a touch of Michelin with some parmesan and tomato tarts as an amuse bouche. Breads were of an exceptional quality and range with treacle... A lovely spot at the head of Gouthwaite reservoir on the Nidderdale Way. Came here on a sunny day in late April and enjoyed a drink outside. The restaurant has a great reputation for fine dining but we were in walking gear.Certainly worth a visit and a meal if you can.

Often when we are away for the weekend we will plan around where to eat first and then book other things around it. This weekend was slightly different in that we were in York then Harrogate for a weekend blow-out amongst Yorkshire's best know tea shop chain (B****s) which we planned to visit 5 times over the 3 days of... We booked on a dinner, accommodation and breakfast basis to get the most out of the exquisite dining experience - and we were not disappointed! Our evening for dinner started in the residents lounge with a drink and delicious canapes. We ordered different dishes to provide the maximum number of taste combinations. The dishes were all of the very best... More
