The service was good for a Sunday lunch and you felt they did really care. Meat was perfect and the fish tasted fresh. The food was not expensive and was very good value. Only negatives were small plates and roast potatoes were cold.

We had our worst dining out experience ever here. It was a friday night in July, and apart from us, there was only one other table in the restaurant in use. The waitress showed us to our table, and we never saw her again, I had to go to the bar (only two customers there) to order more wine, they... More

Booked a table on Saturday evening based on previous Tripadvisor reviews. Took parents and partner. Had enormous difficulty finding the place in the dark and were horrified that we were the ONLY customers there when we did eventually find it. Usually such highly-rated pubs are packed, so we wondered what could have gone wrong and whether we were in for... More

Great country pub, we felt comfortable as soon as we entered the bar. Good choice of beer, good pub food, served by nice people in a bar with a roaring fire. What more could we ask.

If you are looking for a traditional country pub this is it. It is on a small road outside a village or town which makes it more charming. The beer and real ales are good as is the food menu. The stall and proprietors are very friendly as are the customers which are mainly locals.

A tasty Sunday roast and decent portions. The staff were a bit pressed but accommodating. Make sure you book - very popular.

Enjoyable meal in a comfortable environment. Home cooked food, with a range of specials including steak, lamb, fish dishes- and 'Day deals' such as steak night and fish and chip night. Good home made burger, ok cod with vegetables. Pleasant if slightly disorganised service. Good solid pub, if a little bit old fashioned.

Good beer, usually Doom Bar and a guest or two, and reliable pub food. Fish and chips is fantastic, really fresh fish, and huge Sunday roasts (worth booking). Great village pub in a lovely setting, nice outdoor seating.

We live in Princes Risborough and regularly walk up in the Chilterns around the town. Whiteleaf is a convenient stop off on the way back home and it is a treat to stop off at the Red Lion for a drink or some of their great food. This is a traditional pub with very well kept beers and a good... More

Sue, Tony & Tim run a great little pub, B&B & restaurant. Very welcoming to all! Excellent food, drink & atmosphere! We have visited regularly, as dogs are very welcome!
